Outdoors fun šŸ¤©

This week in the outdoor area, the children have had lots of fun investigating different problem solving techniques through their play.

Some of the children really enjoyed posting the polydrone, so we came up with a fun game where we could all take turns posting them, and practice sharing our resources as a team.

The children came up with great suggestionsā€¦

ā€if we put the tyre at the bottom, then it might not topple?ā€

ā€œIā€™m a giant! I can see all the way to the bottomā€

Some of our children needed a little hand to reach, but were very resourceful, using the crates from the muddy movers obstacle course. Great idea šŸ’”

We posted so many polydrone that we filled the pipe up all the way to the topā€¦

ā€œWeā€™ve got to tip it out now. Big CRASH!ā€

ā€œready, steady, GO!ā€

Some children even decided to see if it would slide down to the bottom a different way after we had tipped it overā€¦

ā€it might get stuck.ā€

ā€Iā€™m so strongā€

ā€œGot them! Itā€™s like flyingā€

Sharing and turn taking are great life skills to learn, especially when itā€™s through fun games! Keep up the great work boys and girls šŸ‘šŸ¤©

Splat painting

Today in the garden we have been splat painting.

The children wanted to use sponges but we couldnā€™t find any so they decided to search for something else to use. They decided on colourful balls and cotton wool balls.

They selected 4 colours of paint and squeezed them onto a tray and in the bowl of balls, developing their hand muscles.

ā€œI want pink and yellowā€

ā€œ blue, orangeā€

We pegged an old table cloth up and took 5 steps back ā€œ1,2,3,4,5ā€.

The children took turns throwing the balls and cotton balls on to the table cloth, they watched the colours explode and create a lovely painting.

This experience allows us to develop our gross motor skills, improving our hand eye co-ordination, learning how to move our bodies carefully and building their confidence.

Lots of fun in the garden!

Today the children had great fun in the garden. They set up the guttering on our new stands and loved rolling balls of different sizes down the slopes. The aim was to catch the balls in the basket at the bottom!

The children showed great problem solving skills whilst developing their gross motor skills stretching, reaching and chasing the balls. They were very excited when the balls landed in the basket.

Before home time the children enjoyed having Ā fun out on the bikes. They loved zooming around the garden and were very excited that it was getting dark! This further develops their gross motor skills, balance and coordination.

Lots of fun and fresh air today and the children showed great teamwork and amazing turn taking in the garden!
