Australia Day!

This week the toddlers have been finding out all about Australia. They discussed the animals that live there, what these animals eat and how they move around. The children particularly enjoyed being kangaroos! We got creative by designing our own aboriginal dot paintings. The children used small round sponges and many different colours of paint. The pictures were very effective and created an opportunity to talk about patterns with the children.

The children also enjoyed getting out into the garden and collecting the hail that had fallen. They gathered it into a tray, mixed it with blue paint creating an outdoor home for our penguins! The children enjoyed seeing their footprints in the snow and working out whose was the biggest! We had great fun catching the hail stones as they fell!

Toddlers Remember

Over the last couple of days the toddlers have been talking about the men and women who  worked hard to  give us a safe place to grow up in. We also talked about the animals who did great jobs. They made red play dough and printed with paint to make lovely poppies. We used purple paint to make poppies for the animals. On Monday the toddlers had a “ nearly 2 minute silence to think about special people”,

Our very own Farm at Cart Mill!!!

Today at Cart Mill the children were super excited to create their own farm outdoors. First they collected the resources for the farm and then  they talked about all the animals they saw when they visited the farm during the holidays. One child was quite excited about the cow as he told his friends that he knows how to milk the cow. We also talked about what different animals like to eat and where they like to live. This conversation led to children talking about their favourite food and where they live. Some children shared their experience of feeding animals on the farm.
