The boys and girls were deeply engaged in some water play today. We explored the different ways we could use the water. We had cold water then some warm water. We added bubbles and colour to the water and watched the changes it made. The toddlers experimented using funnels, pots, sieves and syringes to watch how the water ran through them . They were developing great pouring and emptying skills. We then added some sea creatures the children communicated with each other discussing the size and colours of sharks and whales. “I found baby shark “
The toddlers have being trying out lots of new techniques and methods of painting. We have used bubble wrap, tin foil, cling film, rollers ,sponges, brushes and even our bodies. We have used our hands, feet, legs and arms which was great fun. We having been using our muscles to squeeze the paint out the bottles and learning all about the different colours we can use.
How great it has been to have all our girls and boys back . We have had a lovely week and have enjoyed lots of learning experiences. We have been been planting bulbs in the garden. Practising our balancing skills on the obstacle course . We had fun with cool blue jelly beads they were cold and squishy !!
This week has been very busy for the boys and girls. We have all had great fun making Christmas decorations. We have painted our fire place for Santa. We decorated stars to take home and made reindeer dust for Christmas Eve. We have also had a special treat watching a Christmas movie and enjoyed some popcorn.
The toddlers were asked what they would like to do today and they asked for building blocks!
The toddlers spent time talking about the towers that they built, making fences for dinosaurs and building race tracks for cars.
They shared the blocks with each other and were learning how to problem solve, t turns and were very creative with their curiosity and building skills.
Well done boys and girls!
Hi , Cheryl here I hope you are all well and finding lots of new things to do. Most of you will know that I work in the toddler room and have been there for nearly 2 years now. I grew up in Ayr where my parents had a hotel, then moved to Mearns I went to Kirkhill Primary School and then Mearns Castle High School after that I went straight to Langside College to to my NNEB in childcare. I have three great children 1 girl and 2 boys and 1 fabulous grandson Dylan. Our life’s seem to have revolved around animals 2 of my children work for the SSPCA animal charity and my youngest lives and works as a gamekeeper in Fort William. I have a brilliant mum and dad and a brother and sister and 5 nephews and we have great family events including holidays and bbqs . I hope you like the photos that I have for you which are of the animals that we see and help look after at the animal centre. At the moment they have over 160 animals in their care and any help is always welcome . Keep safe and well and see you all soon.
As the toddlers arrived today they let their friends know that it had snowed again. The toddlers were excited to make their own snow. We measured out some cornflour and conditioner and mixed it together. The toddlers then found some animals that live in the snow and ice , penguins and seals. The toddlers made icebergs for the animals to rest on when they were not in the water and snow. The toddlers discovered that they could see the penguins footprints in the snow and some seals hid under the water.
The toddlers have been excited watching the snow showers and discovering how cold the ice and snow is to touch. The toddlers have spent time making their own snowflake pictures using different materials to paint with. The children used paint brushes, sponge dappers and kitchen brushes to make different patterns in their snowflakes. They have also been practising their fine motor skills using scissors to cut out their snowflakes
