Glow Blogs provide one way to tackle e-portfolios/profiling.
A Glow Blog e-Portfolio is a blog with the e-portfolio plugin activated.
Prior to November 2015 e-portfolios in Glow were developed using on of the special e-portfolio themes. We recommend that these are no longer used. See e-Portfolios Update September 2015 for more information on the update.
The process of creating and using an ePortfolio can be summarised:
- A pupil creates an ePortfolio Blog
- The post regularly about their learning and reflections on that learning. They organise these posts using Profile Tags
- When they need a Profile they create one from their posts.
An e-Portfolio blog consists of a series of posts. The plugin adds a new taxonomy Profile Tags, to these posts. The profile tags help to create a profile from the posts.
Profiles are creates, edited and published from the Profiles section of the Dashboard. The process is greatly simplified from the earlier theme based profiles.
Profiles can be viewed on the blog, printed and saved to PDF.
An e-portfolio can use any theme which can be customised by pupils. This customisation will not be reflected in the pdf or printed profile.
