Weekly Review – W/B 15th November
Another busy week in P6….
-We have been learning about the animals that live in the understorey and canopy layers of the jungle. We carried out more research and wrote and information report using our notes.
-We researched snakes and choose one species to recreate using paper plates. They look amazing hanging in our class.
-We have been learning about factors and multiples in maths. We also explored prime numbers and what makes them special.
-For book week we read a story called “The Last Wolf” and then predicted where the main character would be in 50 years time. It made us think about the important issue of sustainability again.
What was your favourite part of the week and why?
Dive into a book
Book Week
We have had some fun exploring books for Book Week. Our focus has had strong links to Literacy.
We explored the book,” The last wolf” by Mini Grey . This was a book that was in the P3 Read, Write, Count goody bag that we took home on Monday.
The Primary 2 goody bag was amazing too. We loved the note book, card game and measuring tape too.
We tried to act out parts of the story and we felt that we were actually in the book when we did that. There was lots of fun and laughter at the end when the story had a happy ending.
The book made us think very carefully about environmental issues and how we need to take care to look after wildlife. When hedges and trees are cut down the animals lose their homes and food. So we could be more mindful of this when we make choices.
We are looking forward to sharing books we bring in from home tomorrow.

Here is a non-fiction story we read this week.
Numeracy
We are now looking at exploring numbers to 100 and we enjoyed using the big 100 square and working out the correct sequence of numbers. We enjoyed being active with our learning.
We are really looking forward to using the big 100 square when we are choosing in our free time too.
Well done for wanting to transfer your learning into your play, P2 !
Sustainable Squad meeting 1.
We had an early morning meeting and felt very grown up when the tables were rearranged to make our meeting more formal.
We took the meeting very seriously and our responses were very mature.
Here are some of the things we discussed.
P7 will be planting legacy trees in the school grounds in December and January. This will provide shelter and shading and be good for our wildlife. We can also think about the P7’s who planted them.
We are looking forward to finding out more about the polytunnel that we are going to have in Spring.
Surprise!
Mr Swinney surprised us by dropping off some of the jigsaws and games our teacher had ordered. Mrs Ward gave each class money to spend and we are really excited about exploring our new games.
Thank you to Mrs Ward as these games will make our learning and play even more exciting.

That’s not my…Primary 1! Book Week in P7B and P1B
This week we have been looking at ways which we can help the Primary 1s foster a love of reading and Primary 7 helped to create some fantastic templates to take their learning outside.
The classes helped to wake BookBug up as he was taking a nap! We sang a lovely ‘Hello’ song and met our group. We read our touchy-feely books and used different words to describe the toys we had. Some of the words we heard were smooth, fluffy, rough, bumpy and soft.
Then the Primary ones had to use their templates to find different surfaces and textures around their playground. We all had great fun in our groups and showed good listening and problem solving skills.
We finished by tidying our books and toys away and sang our ‘Goodbye’ song. We are all looking forward to hearing the other exciting activities going on around the school for Scottish Book Week. Well done everyone!
The big bang
We have been finding out about the Big Bang theory this week and loved creating collages to show how scientists think the universe began.
P7A Review of the Week
We’ve had a great week in P7A and everyone has been really settled and working hard!
We’ve continued our learning about Rainforests, learned about Remembrance, tried some new trick and tips for getting the most from our iPads and began work on Division and Pie charts.
We decided to do our individual reviews in a different way this week so here are a few of our Sketch Notes with some of our highlights:

Weekly Review W/B 8th Nov
What an excellent week!
- We have been learning about the story of the Poppy and what Remembrance Day is all about. We created some beautiful poppy pictures and all took part in a one minute silence.
- We have been learning about animals that live on the forest floor and researched an animal of our choice. We wrote an information report on our chosen animal and then created a piece of art work based on one of these.
- In Maths we have finished our block on subtraction and have now moved on to multiplication. Remember you can practise the trickier times tables on Hit the Button. This will help you increase your recall speed and confidence with these.
- In Health and WellBeing we have been talking about reasons why people might take drugs or alcohol and their impact on peoples’ mood. We have continued to talk about relationships and how we form these.
What has been your highlight of the week and why?
