P7A Review of the Week 17.12.21

It’s been a very festive week in P7 with lots of our activities linked to Christmas – we have still been learning though!

In our Maths we’ve revised co-ordinates and line symmetry from earlier in the block as well as working on our Problem Solving strategies.

We completed some Reading comprehension about Christmas in other countries and also improved our mental map of the world by doing some Geography tasks linked to countries, flags and capital cities.

Sam F and Ailish became teachers for the afternoon when they shared with us what they have been learning about Micro:bits and showed us what they were and how to use them.

We’ve also had some time for Christmas crafts and digital artwork as well as enjoying our third Prefect Break.

Phew!  What a busy week!

P6 Christmas Party

P6 had a wonderful time at their Christmas Party yesterday. They played; pass the parcel, musical bumps, musical statues, musical arms and the After Eight game (which was very messy!).

We also took part in some year group dances and enjoyed a yummy snack half way through. A huge thanks to the Parent Council for our treat bags.

Well done to Dylan who won ‘Best Dancer’ and Rudi who won ‘Kindest Person at the Party’.

Thank-you P6s for an excellent time.

Christmas crafts

P2/3 and P3 Christingles Christmas cards.

Working hard on our letters for Riverside House. We hope the residents enjoy our cards as much as we enjoyed making them.

What is your wish for Christmas?

In our party clothes.

On the 2nd day of Christmas we drew these amazing baubles on our iPads. We are enjoying the Inspire Learning Christmas activities.

We had fun recycling sweetie wrappers to make these Christmas cards. We are thinking more about how we can be Eco friendly.

We have enjoyed listening to Christmas music while we have been doing our Christmas crafts. This has actually helped us to feel quite calm and relaxed.

We have worked very hard on 2D shape in Maths too. It has been fun learning about the shapes then playing with them. we have also done some addition and subtraction to make Christmas tile mosaics. We turned these into jigsaws that we can use for Mental Agility games.

P5 Christmas party

P5a and P5b enjoyed their Christmas party on Tuesday afternoon. There was dancing, games and party food, and some very smart and sparkly outfits!
Thank you to Mr Hawkins and Mr Cocolin who have been teaching the dances in PE, and to the Parent Council for the lovely party bags.

P2 had a fantastic party !

It was so much fun partying with our whole year group.

We loved dancing the Military two step, we played snowmen statues and we had fun finding a partner in the snowball game.

Thank you to the Parent Council for our party bags and food. This made our party much more special.

A big thank you to all of the adults who helped out at our party.

It was lovely to see everyone in their party clothes.

P5a review of the week

We have been doing some Christmas themed activities this week.

We made Advent  christingles and have posted a video about them.

We sang our Christmas song and painted pictures to go with it.

In PE we have been learning dances for our party next week.

Our recount writing was about our journey back from space where some goes wrong but fortunately we resolve it and get home safely.

In grammar we learned about comparative and superlative adjectives.

We are learning about written methods for multiplication and will be doing division methods next.

In health and well-being we watched an NSPCC video with the message ‘speak out, stay safe’.

We have been using our iPads to learn new skills from the Inspire Team’s 12 days of Christmas. Here are some of our creations!

P7A Review of the Week 10.12.21

What a busy week – it seems to have flown past!  We’ve had a festive theme to many of our tasks this week but are very much still learning!

What have been your highlights this week?

What have you learned to do that you didn’t know how to do before?

Hello from P7B!

We have had a busy, Christmassy week in P7B!

In Maths, we have continued to work on division and multiplying decimals. We have also started to learn about money and had an interesting discussion about where we see money in everyday life.

In Literacy we read a variety of texts in our groups and made questions for each other and created a new page for our book.

For writing have started to make our own collection of Christmas stories as we explore narrative writing. Our first story is based on The Snowman. We have watched he film and split it into three parts. We have all worked hard to write the story and add illustrations . Our next story within our book will be based on a small book called ‘Christmas Gingerbread’ and we will be creating a diary for a busy elf who helps Father Christmas!

For Expressive Arts, we have been practising our song for our virtual performance and have made props to use. We have also been making Christmas cards with our new watercolour paints and using clay to make  Christmas present . This will all come home soon in a Christmas bundle!

We were all very proud of the children who participated in the Sportshall Athletics competition on Wednesday morning. All of the participants gave 100% effort in all activities, were well-behaved and polite. A big thank you to Mrs Fletcher and Paul Murray for their help in training for the event and to Mrs Istephan who took the children down to the Gytes. Well done everyone!
