P6A Christmas Week!

What a brilliant Christmas Week we have had in Primary 6A.

Throughout December we have opened our Class Advent Calendar, told jokes, identified flags of many countries and found out some of their Christmas traditions.

We were given Christmas fun glasses to wear all week and take home on Friday.

On Monday we used compasses to create snowmen, Christmas puddings, wreaths and Santa faces.  We created Christmas stockings by sewing felt together.  We started our robin calendars – a present for home and our Christmas cards.

On Tuesday we made tricky snowmen snowflakes and our festive ‘movie’ place mats.  We had a wonderful movie afternoon watching Mr Bean at Christmas and Polar Express.  Thank you to the Social and Leisure Committee for providing us with yummy snacks.

On Wednesday we made Chocolate Truffles to take home.  This was great fun.  We also made Santa Boxes from one piece of A4 red card.  The measuring was tricky and you had to be accurate.

On Thursday we watched the brilliant Kingsland Christmas Story.  We finished our calendars and cards.  In the afternoon we watched an excellent pantomime of Jack and the Beanstalk.  Thank you Social and Leisure Committee for providing us with popcorn and juice.

On Friday we watched our Christmas Service and the Christmas Nativity Story.  We tidied up the classroom ready for next year!  Mrs Ward also delivered extra cups of popcorn at brunch.

Throughout the week, we have really enjoyed our Kahoot Quizzes created by ourselves and/or ready made ones.  This has been exciting and great competitive fun.  We have also enjoyed the Inspire Learning Sketches School activities.

Primary 6A would like to wish everyone A …..

Stay safe, take care.   See you all in 2021 for Block 3!

Merry Christmas from P2/1

What a fun filled festive week we’ve had! We’ve opened some great picturebooks in our advent including The Jolly Christmas Postman and Meerkat Christmas.

On Monday afternoon we had a virtual visit from Santa, who left a gift with his elf Mrs Wilson. We were very excited to open our present – a wooden marble run! We’ve had lots of fun with it already.

On Tuesday we all looked great in our party clothes. In the afternoon we watched Happy Feet with Mrs Thomson and enjoyed our drinks and snacks.

Wednesday was a busy day – we started by thinking about all the people who help us in school, from Mr Harkness for looking after the school to Mrs Clyde for making us lovely lunches. We then all wrote a Christmas thank you letter. This was followed by a very tasty Christmas lunch. We were joined by Mrs Fletcher and enjoyed the crackers and the silly jokes!

After lunch we went on a tour of the school to see everybody’s doors. It was very exciting going for a walk upstairs and seeing what a great job everybody has done. At the end of the day we watched the Kingsland Christmas story. We were delighted to see ourselves on screen and talked again about the meaning of Christmas.

On Thursday we had great fun watching the pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk. We enjoyed booing at the evil characters and cheering for Jack and Jill! We also enjoyed our cinema style popcorn and drinks.

We’ve also been working hard this week making cards, finishing our Christmas present for our grown ups and wrapping it up ourselves. We hope you like them!

Merry Christmas and we look forward to seeing you on 5th January 2021!

Christmas

We have had a lovely time this week getting into the festive spirit. We loved our movie/party afternoon, the Christmas lunch, making Christmas crafts and the pantomime – oh yes we did!

Reflections on 2020

2020 has been a year like no other. We have all had experiences that have challenged us but also had positive opportunities that would not have occurred otherwise. Think about these questions and reflect on the year of 2020.

  1. What challenged you this year – be specific!

  2. What positives came out of this year for you?

  3. What did you learn from this year?

  4. What is your hope for 2021?

Christmas Lunch

Today we sat together in our class bubble and had our Christmas Dinner. We pulled crackers and enjoyed a delicious lunch. Mrs Wilson was helping the dinner ladies to serve the food from the kitchens and some of the teachers were serving us at our tables.

Christmas Door Walk

Primary 1 enjoyed walking around the school today looking at the wonderful Christmas Doors. We were very impressed with all the drawing and painting especially the gingerbread houses done by P3 and P7.

Chocolate Data Challenge

There has been lots of excitement in class since we found out we were taking on the Chocolate Data Challenge.

First we had to collect the data on how many varieties of chocolates there were in our tub and then show the results in a table.

Next we surveyed the class to find out which chocolate each person would choose as their favourite. This was not easy as we all had different brands!

We then made a comparison graph to display the data we had collected. We compared the amount of each type in our box with the ones that people liked best.

After that, we analysed our data to answer questions from Mrs Brown. We shared our findings with the class. We found that the chocolate which occurs most in the box is usually the heaviest and not the favourite. Lots of us had different favourites though so this could vary.

Our final task was probably the hardest!! We had to divide the chocolates equally between our group so we all went home with the same amount but had to decide on how we could each get the chocolates we preferred. It was not as simple as just dividing up the chocolates and we came up with lots of different ways to do this so it was fair and kind.  We definitely won’t be eating them all at once!
