The biggies are making some great progress on their Model Robot Makerspace challenge.

The class was split into groups and has taken some very imaginative ideas and is turning then into reality.
Final finishing touches are being added and some video reports started.
Last week as a #MakerSpaceNL warm up the Biggies explored levers.
They made some simple examples of different combinations of leaver to show different types of movement. They then added a wee bit of creativity into the mix.
As a way to learn about levers we made some Cardboard Monsters this afternoon. We are working up to a #makerspaceNL project…
This week the pupils all finished their Automata. There are a few photos in the video before footage of the machines in action:
Today we presented to the parents & guests about our STEM (or STEAM) learning, including a section on the automata Project. The children did a brilliant job of writing scripts, creating presentations and talking to an audience.
We are making some progress using our Makerspace to work on out Cardboard Automata, here is a video from last week:
Last year, the class went out to the playground and measures lots of the den building materials:
This year we took these measurements, scaled them down by a factor of 10 and then made scale models of dens.
the class also made scale models of themselves at the same scale as the dens.
The children then made wee videos of their learning using iMovie or clips.
There are a couple of videos still to be finished and we will add these to the playlist when done.
