Primary 7B Reflection

This week P7B have adapted well to having a different teacher in class this week. Thank you and well done.

Have a look at the reflective questions below and discuss them with the people at your table. Leave a comment with your thoughts:

  1. What is the most important thing that you have learned this week. Why do you think that is?
  2. When were you most creative? Did you draw or make something? Or did you have to use problem solving skills?
  3. What made you curious this week? How does learning feel different when you are curious?
  4. What did you find difficult this week? What did you do to help yourself? Did you use any of Skipper’s tools?

I hope to see you all next week everyone. Have a wonderful weekend!

Our week in P7B

Primary 7B have had yet another busy week at school! Our Prefect Rotas have been put in place and some of the children have had the opportunity to carry out a range of jobs throughout the school. Thank you for all of your hard work!

In class we have:

  • Investigated the short e sound in spelling.
  • Revised and consolidated  decimal fractions, looking at tenths and hundredths. We have also continued to look at lines of symmetry in complex shapes and patterns.
  • Studied a piece of descriptive writing and examined it’s key features. We had a go at writing our own descriptive writing piece on the role of Firefighters.
  • Continued  our Novel Study, Divided City, and have had time to carryout our own research on a theme in the novel that interests us. Some of us have chosen religion, football or asylum seekers for example.
  • Looked at the work of Glasgow artist, Charles Rennie MacIntosh, and planning a piece of art which we will share with you next week.
  • Talked about the SHANARRI indicators in Health and Wellbeing and how these apply to us every day.
  • Watched our first school assembly of the year and were reminded of Skipper and the tools he uses to help him to be resilient.

Consider the points below and leave a comment:

1. What did I enjoy learning about most this week? Why?

2. What would you like to learn more about over the next few weeks?

3.  Which tools from Skipper’s toolkit did you use this week?

4. Did you help a classmate or pupil in the school this week? How did you help them and how did it make you feel afterwards?

Primary 7B Round Up

We have had another busy week in Primary 7B. We have continued with our Novel Study and the class have enjoyed researching different landmarks for our artwork .

In maths, we have been rounding numbers and looking at place value.

We have started engaging with Descriptive writing texts and have been looking at adjectives to help us with this. In spelling we have been revising the short e sound.

We have been learning about forces in science and had to investigate friction within our classroom. The children were challenged to design an experiment which would test the distance and speed of vehicles on different surfaces around the room. One of the main considerations was how to ensure they were carrying out a fair test.

Post your comments below

3. What are you most looking forward to next week?

Primary 7 Prefect Preparation

This week the Primary 7s got together to talk about their role as Prefects at Kingsland and had the opportunity to try out some playground games that they may use when helping out in the playground.

It was lovely to see the children working together in groups and consider the challenges they might face in different roles. Well done everyone!

P7B Novel Study

It has been a busy week in P7B and the children have been working hard and have been enjoying the sunshine.

A key focus has been on our Novel Study – Divided City by Theresa Breslin. We have explored a range of themes including prejudice, religion and poverty. We have completed a number of tasks based on the text.

Thinking about the week as a whole, comment below with your thoughts on the week:

1. What was your highlight of the week and why?

2. What are you most proud of?

3. What did you find challenging? How did you overcome these challenges?
