Dalguise
Last week I, and the rest of Kingsland P7, went to Dalguise. Dalguise is an awesome activity camp where you do loads of cool things like zipwire and abseiling. Our school have gone there for as long as anyone can remember, and it is always the p7s that go. Apparently, it helps us bond and collaborate for the rest of the year (at least that’s what the teachers say!) and it is in Perthshire for anyone who wants to go. In this piece of writing, I will tell you about my favourite day of the week which was (obviously) Thursday!
I woke up on Thursday with a jolt as someone started banging on the door. Finally, I remembered that I was at Dalguise and this was the last day. I and the rest of my dorm clambered out of bed to get ready for the amazing day ahead. At last everyone was outside. We all ran along to dining hall and after a bit of queuing I finally got my breakfast which was some tasty bacon with tomatoes and toast. When we had finished breakfast, our group and group 3 got our wellies on and set off. After what seemed like hours, we reached the top and put a rock down that we had carried all the way there. Then we went back down to the meeting points and off to our next activity which was … climbing.
When we got to the climbing wall, everyone got harnessed up and we started to climb. When it was my turn, I was slightly nervous but once I got up there, I just kept on going until I reached the top! Then I leaned back and felt a rush of excitement as I got lowered down. I then waited until everyone had gone and rushed back for lunch. After lunch (which was great) we went into the wood to do challenge course. In challenge course we pretended we were pirates and we had to get out of a fallen cave. We actually had to complete a course full of loads of obstacles, but it was still really amazing, and we all enjoyed it.
Next up it was abseiling. We walked to the same area as we did the climbing and like we did before we all got harnessed up. When it was my go, I walked up the steps and got clipped up. Then I leaned back and slowly marched my way down the wall. I then watched everyone else go and repeated the routine again for my second go (this time a little faster). We then walked back, had dinner and started to get ready for the disco!
After an hour of chilling in our rooms or going to Mrs Hope’s hair salon we were all ready. We sped down to the disco and charged our way in. Inside it was awesome! There were disco lights, there was loud music and everywhere there were people doing some really ‘special’ dances. After about two hours of mayhem, the disco finally ended, and we all went back to our rooms.
So that is it for this wondrous day and I am really grateful for this awesome experience.
