This week we have learning about “x” sound as in box, fox, six, mix and fix. We think the “x” sound is similar to the noise made by an X-ray machine.

Here are our X-rays!

Lest We Forget
Today we listened to The Poppy Story and learned about Remembrance Day. We heard the poem In Flanders Fields by John McCrae and thought it was very sad.
We made poppies to take home and put in our windows for tomorrow, 11th November, to remember and think about servicemen and women who have served their country in any war, not just the First World War.

We also created some effective silhouette remembrance art work to display in our classroom. Here is a small selection.
We will be thinking and remembering about veterans tomorrow at 11.00 am.
Calendar Art
We have worked really hard creating this collage of Kingsland Primary School for the month of August for the school calendar.
Well done everyone, it looks fantastic.

Remembrance

Everyone in P7A made a poppy to bring home today. Please display it in your house – you could tape it to a window or display it in a vase on a windowsill. We have also been finding out about the origins of Remembrance Day and the use of the poppy as a commemorative symbol. We then used the information we found out to write super reports during our writing lessons.

Remembrance
P4a have been making a “stained glass window” poppy display ahead of Remembrance Day tomorrow.
The children will bring their poppies home today should you wish to display them at home.
