We have been focusing on Skipper and the river of life. We created individual boats for our class river. This term we will be focusing on the skills of looking on the bright side when things get tough. We also created our positive mindset display to help us when we face challenges in school.

This week we have also enjoyed:

• Creating dream catchers and thinking about our dreams for the future.
• Designing our boats for the river of life.
• P.E. We were learning to run effectively.
• Maths. We learned to partition large numbers and then add and subtract multiples of 10.
• Creating posters which show different types of germs and how to stop the spread.
• Maths. We learned about the different types of triangles and created a poster to show this.

We’re very nearly at the end of the month so it seems like a good time to check in and see how things are going.  Please reflect on the following questions and post your answers in the comments:

Primary 1 love stories! We enjoy listening to stories being read, reading books on our own and sharing stories with our friends.

Primary 1 have been learning about story maps this week. We have been talking about the beginning, middle and the end of a story. We created our own story maps of the Gruffalo story and then used these plans to make a story map outside with a partner.

We had to think about all the places the mouse went as he strolled through the forest and the order of the characters that he met.

We had to check that the we had put the places in the correct order.

We have thinking about how we can be kind and helpful to others. We started to make a display of our ideas. To began with we printed our “helping hands”.

This week in primary 1 we have been working  hard to make our own Gruffalo puppets. We used paper bags for the body and scrunched up tissue for the hair. We used sticky paper for the eyes and  the  prickles. We think they look very scary…rrrrrrroar!!!
