We used our knowledge of collage to create some artwork based on a campaign to stop littering. We did it to stop people from littering and dropping rubbish. It was so much fun. Next week we are putting slogans on them.

We’ve had a busy week of planting this week. On Tuesday we planted runner beans in pots and this morning we planted radish in the school garden.
We’ve also enjoyed learning the ‘ou’ sound this week and had lots of fun making a mouse in a house.
Some of our highlights this week include:
We are learning about what plants need to grow and started off by looking at the different parts of a flowering plant. We have made some lovely labelled diagrams which explain the role of the four main parts – the roots, stem, leaves and flower.
Charlotte did a great job with hers!
We looked at the true story of the three little pigs.
Alexander T wolf (you would know as the big bad wolf) was mistaken for the bad guy.
We looked at the text to find words/ sentences that made us sympathise for the wolf. He was mistaken for blowing on purpose the little pigs house down but really he just had a cold and wanted some sugar for his granny’s birthday cake.
We also learned about rhetorical questions and what these were.
Do you believe the Big Bad Wolf?

The week we learned about things that are biodegradable. We were shocked at how long things took to decompose into the ground!
Did you know that a glass bottle takes 1 million years to biodegrade?!

In maths we started to work on decimals with one decimal place (tenths). We had to convert fractions to decimals and vice versa and we ordered decimals from smallest to largest and largest to smallest.
We planned our Exposition Assessment piece of writing on Children Should be Paid Pocket Money for Doing Chores.
We revised one of the resilient strategies Take a Moment and we slowly ate a square of chocolate thinking about texture and taste.
We discussed the short and long term effects of alcohol on the body. We identified lots of effects. Previously we looked at persuasion strategies and tried to persuade our partner to eat a Skittle!
In PE we played non-stop cricket and normal cricket.
We played some word games in preparation for our debates next week.
We enjoyed this week’s assembly about why you should behave safely.
We had a very interesting start to Thursday morning this week. When we arrived at school we were shocked to see a scary message left in blood on our classroom windows. We also had a note to say we were going to be investigating a crime that had happened in our classrooms.
We used our inference reading skills to solve a murder and create a crime report to present to the rest of the class. We were very relieved to find out it had all been pretend and just a way for us to practise what we have been learning about in reading. Quite a few of us managed to correctly identify the victim, suspect, motive and weapon!
This week we also –
