Water Cycle Experiment

We were investigating what happened to water vapour when it cooled.   We found out that water vapour condenses and turns into liquid water (condensation).   Eventually all the liquid water gathered together and dripped down – precipitation.

Tennis Fun

We had a great time up at Peebles Tennis Courts.  We warmed up with a game in pairs then we used a racket and ball individually trying to keep the ball up in the air.  Next we worked with a partner and finally we had a game trying to get the ball over the net and keep it within our court section.  We all had a fun time.  Thank you Marc and Paul.

Science Experiement

We wanted to find out what happened to solid water when it was heated.  We set up our experiment and observed.  Most of us thought the ice (solid water) would melt to liquid water.  The ice did melt then the liquid water disappeared.    Liquid water turned into a gas, water vapour – evaporation.

Bird spotters

Primary 2 are keen bird spotters. They have been learning that you have to be still and very quiet to be a successful bird spotter.

They have been recording birds they have seen and used tally marks to show this.

From the information they have gathered they are trying to work out where the most birds are found around our school grounds.

How could we attract more birds to our school ?

David Attenborough
I have chosen David Attenborough as I think he is an inspirational person.
He is famous for his work as a Naturalist, an Environmentalist, a voice actor, screenwriter and for his work at BBC2. He is probably most famous though for television series like Blue Planet 2 which showed us plants and animals that we might never have seen in parts of the world we could never visit. He was also in the Navy for two years and reached the North Pole at the age of 83! He is much loved by the British public and has received 32 honorary awards and even had animals and a constellation named after him.
Although he is very famous, David Attenborough has had many setbacks. The first time he applied for a job at the BBC, he was rejected but he kept trying and eventually became in charge of BBC2 and helped to bring colour TV to Britain.
Sad things have also happened in his life. He was married to his wife Jane for 47 years until she collapsed suddenly with a brain haemorrhage and died. His niece and great-niece also died in the Thailand Tsunami of 1994. David has said that without his work, he would not have been able to cope and he throws himself into it all to distract himself.
He almost died when he was filming out at sea. He was about to go under water when a huge wave came and broke a wooden platform above him, the platform fell on him and knocked him unconscious. He also lost a lot of blood but he still wasn’t put off and was determined to continue with his work.
David Attenborough is 92 and turns 93 on the day our homework is due. it He is getting old but instead of stepping down he is stepping up to help stop climate change from destroying our world.
He has also done a recent documentary on the dangers of climate change and given several speeches on the dangers facing our world.
He has said recently:
“The question is, are we happy to suppose that our grandchildren may never be able to see an elephant except in a picture book?”
With people like him we might be able to save the planet, I find that very inspiring indeed.

My inspiration is Dina Asher-smith because she became the first woman to run 100m in 11 seconds. She has won a lot of medals. Dina’s dedication to the sport has seen her achieve a lot of records and titles. She is a very strong determined woman that can achieve her goals. Being number 1 means a lot of sacrifices and sticking to a very strict training programme.
