Challenging our Mindset

We had to build a tower with 6 pieces of newspaper. We got through it by working together. We had to keep on trying. We had to be resilient. We had to help each other, listen to each other, share ideas and come to an agreement.

Some ideas we tried didn’t work.

The challenge was to build the tallest tower that was strong enough to hold a small teddy. Our towers are strong and stable.

Soluble or Insoluble?

Which materials dissolve in water?

We carried out an experiment to see which common materials dissolve in water.  We tried sawdust, salt, sand, coffee and sugar.

We found out that salt, coffee and sugar are soluble.

Feed the birds.

Both classes have been having fun watching a variety of  birds feeding from our bird feeders.

When we are brushing our teeth and very quiet we spot the most birds!

What’s the problem?

In Primary 2 we have been thinking about problems birds face to survive. Then we work out a solution to the problem. We have then written our stories based on this.

We have also been peer assessing and self-assessing our stories. We give good, honest feedback which helps everyone to make improvements in their writing next time.

We really enjoy sharing our stories with others and hearing their stories too.
