Welcome to P7!

Post a comment below to tell us some of the things you are hoping to achieve in Primary 7. There is lots to look forward to so be prepared for challenge, teamwork and fun!

4 things about me…

Primary 4a had the task of choosing 4 things that they wanted to share with the class. They could bring anything, however they had to fit in a paper bag (and not be valuable)!

We had an amazing circle time sharing our bags, and it was a really fun and interesting way to get to know each other. Here are what P4a chose to share…

Can you work out who each bag belongs to from what they chose to share?!

Welcome to Primary 2

Primary 2 have been working very hard this week.

We have had great fun playing together in the playground and exploring the new paddle steamer boat and the colourful  train – Hoot! Toot !

We have also enjoyed learning about the lighthouse keeper Mr. Grinling and his wife. We are looking forward to next week so that we can explore the story more……….. ( ” The Lighthouse Keepers Lunch” by Ronda and David Armitage)

We have been learning to follow one of the  school rules this week –

” I listen carefully and follow instructions.” Primary 2 are very good at following this rule already.

Welcome to Primary 4!

Today we discussed what we are doing in our topic this block:

I know the symptoms of some common diseases caused by germs.  I can explain how they are spread and discuss how some methods of preventing and treating disease benefit society

Key words: germs, diseases, medicines, drugs

What do we know already?

Germs spread, make you sick

Medicines make you better, they’re disgusting

Washing your hands gets rid of germs

Diseases can make you ill and kill you

Diseases can be stopped with vaccinations

Germs come from other people

Medicines stop some, but not all, diseases

Germs give you cancer

Running out of penicillin as people who don’t need it are using it

Germs have little things to make them move

Headlice and dandruff make  nits go away

Germs are when you feel sick

Diseases are caused by germs

What would we like to do to learn about this?

Get Sam F’s dad into school – he is a microbiologist

Jamie’s mum come in – paramedic

Doctors come to visit

Some experiments

Class trip to BGH/Haylodge/science lab

Make our own science lab

Make pretend medicine/potions and see how it works

Find out about people researching new medicines (e.g. flowers in the rainforest)

Research germs, diseases and medicines – books, internet, ask people

Can we get a machine to see germs?

Visit Boots to look at medicine

Look at what medicines we have at home

Printing

P2 have been making printing template using string. Tomorrow they will ink them up with a roller and use them as prints. String printing is fun and easy to do.  The trick is not to make the drawing too detailed and keep the print very simple.

Round The World Market

Primary 5a and P5b held a very successful enterprise event Round the World Market.  Over 100 tickets were sold and parents were entertained with some International songs, music and fun facts.  Each group of children  had researched a different country and created an informative display with text and pictures.  Visitors had a little taste of food from each country as well.  Everyone had a great time.  Our profit from this event is £50 and this will be donated to Save The Children.

Beltane

Thank you to Mrs. Musgrave for her amazing talk about the history behind the Beltane festival. We were amazed by her Auntie Alice’s Beltane bits and pieces.

Mrs. Musgrave,  we thought your stories of when you were a child were really funny. You sounded like you had lots of fun at the Beltane festival.

You have really helped us to understand the meaning of Beltane.

Oh, happy day!

P2A and P2B worked together on a Health and Wellbeing activity this morning. We explored happy and sad times. Then we made happy and sad puppet faces to show how we were feeling in different situations.

Our teachers were so impressed with the grown up answers we were giving and the reasons for them.

It was lovely working together as a year group and going outside into the sunshine for a special P2 Circle Time discussion.

Our favourite part was dancing to, ” Happy ” and that is exactly how the song made us all feel .

How are you feeling today?
