Bonnie Scotland!

P5 looked at the language, landscapes and geography of Scotland – we did mapping (thinking about cities, towns , landmarks and rivers), different art work featuring Scottish landscapes, and wrote different texts in Scots.

Meditation

Primary 6a have been learning about Buddhism. We have discovered that Buddhists meditate. This is a quiet time when you can clear your mind and reflect on life. Mrs Harrison loved this time as it was so quiet!

WW2 rationing

We have been learning about rationing during WW2. Today we looked at some commonly used recipes. We made and tasted a few. The carrot cookies were very popular but the sweet potato chocolate spread divided opinion!

P5A Scotland Topic

During our mini topic on Scottish geography and language we enjoyed experimenting with different media to create some beautiful Scottish landscapes. We read lots of texts in Scots and even had a go at writing our own.

Lots of addition in Primary 1

The class have been working hard with their addition up to 10, using concrete materials to help.  We used the numicon to build towers of 10, making some very sturdy towers!

We also enjoy playing with the Cuisenaire rods to see the different ways you can make 10 and the patterns you can make.

We’ve now set up our own mini ‘Kingsland Shop’ where we sort the food into different categories, write out shopping lists and use our addition skills to make sure we give the correct amount to the shopkeeper!

To continue to develop addition skills at home, the mental maths train game on Topmarks is one of our class favourites:
