Today we had DEAR time. It’s means Drop Everything And Read. We found comfy seats and enjoyed our books. Some of us like reading on our own and some of us like to read with a partner.
Primary 6a have been learning about Buddhism. We have discovered that Buddhists meditate. This is a quiet time when you can clear your mind and reflect on life. Mrs Harrison loved this time as it was so quiet!
During our mini topic on Scottish geography and language we enjoyed experimenting with different media to create some beautiful Scottish landscapes. We read lots of texts in Scots and even had a go at writing our own.
Looks great fun and we heard lots of positive comments at home about learning to code.
You have been working hard P1. 🙂
Well done. They look very good up on the wall. Some very careful work.
The class have been working hard with their addition up to 10, using concrete materials to help. We used the numicon to build towers of 10, making some very sturdy towers!
We also enjoy playing with the Cuisenaire rods to see the different ways you can make 10 and the patterns you can make.
We’ve now set up our own mini ‘Kingsland Shop’ where we sort the food into different categories, write out shopping lists and use our addition skills to make sure we give the correct amount to the shopkeeper!
To continue to develop addition skills at home, the mental maths train game on Topmarks is one of our class favourites:
