roald dahl day fun
We read an extract from James and the Giant Peach and then made our own peach crumble. While the crumble was cooking we also designed some new characters to live in the peach with James. It was great fun and we loved trying our crumble at the end of the day!
P4/5 den building
We had to work as a team to build a den that we could fit in. We had great fun but found it hard to tie knots and those of us outside struggled to stop our dens from blowing away in the wind!
careers week day 3
Lochie’s Mum came in on Friday and talked to us about working for the Scottish book trust. She showed us some of the information available on the website and also read us one of her favourite stories.
Careers week day 2
Robyn’s Mum came in to class to tell us all about being a GP. We got to try out some of her equipment including the puffer which you blow into if you have asthma, the blood pressure test to see what your blood pressure is and the medicine books that tell you how much medicine you should take if you are unwell.
Careers week day 1
P4b had a very exciting start to careers week with a visit from Police Constable Taylor. He told us a bit about his job, his uniform and some of the equipment he uses. We got to try on some of his protective clothing and Mrs Stevenson got handcuffed for being bad!
Recycling project
Both p4 classes are looking at the properties of different materials this term and why and how we recycle some of these materials. At the end of the block we are hoping to design and make some outfits and hold a fashion show. In order to make these clothes we need some materials that we can recycle e.g. old boxes, foil, plastic bags, cardboard tubes etc. Please sent things into school over the next few weeks so we can see what materials we have to work with. Thanks
Afternoon tea
A great team effort for our final week of cooking. We have just had a lovely afternoon tea with a selection of sandwiches (beef, cheese and tomato, egg mayo), plain and fruit scones and iced cup cakes. Everyone worked really hard to get the food ready and then had a fantastic time eating it all! Well done everyone!
cooking challenge
We have been very busy learning about food and farming and have had great fun cooking omelettes, soup, mince and tatties and pancakes. Louise Forsyth has set us a challenge!
Can you cook a meal for the family that uses some of the skills you have learned in class? You need to take photographs to show you preparing the meal. The winners will receive one of these lovely aprons! Good luck!
Our apron winners in p4b were:
Drew, Daisy, PJ, Chloe, Kate, Ethan, Robyn, John and Eliana. Well done to everyone who made a meal for their family and keep cooking!
