We were in the Amazonian Rainforest and we discovered the MegaMosese plant but the short name is the Mega M . This plant is found at the Understory and its challenge is the insects because it can only eat small insects/frogs .The baby size is 20-40cm tall ,the full size is up to 80cm tall you will be lucky to find one taller than that. It has adapted because of the beautiful colours on it the colours are red ,orange , pink and blue all them colours attract the insects and small frogs . The challenges it faces is keeping its own territory because other plants take over its land so it tries and grows as fast as it can to spread life of its own kind. Its so special because its the only plant to glow rainbow colours at night. Its also special because it grows fruit at the top of it, It mainly grows berries .An interesting fact is its got a pink dot on it you probably shouldn’t touch it because its poisonous .
THE SNAPCURE by the world famous botanists Dr Thomson Dr Cormack Dr Clarkson
Today when in the Amazonian rainforest we discovered the SNAPCURE.
About it.
It has nectar on its chin so when the prey goes on to its jaw it snaps the creature and then the creature dies and when it dies it releases a horrible smell and then after 3 days . It goes back to its normal again.
Where is it.
The SNAPCURE lives in every layer but the forest floor.
It faces some challenges including having to eat an insect at least once a week. It also has to face predators like the panther and jaguar. Sometimes the bug or insects bite back to survive but if the creature does bite back it can stop it by using a toxic gas that comes from the leaves.
FUN FACTS ABOUT IT.
Its teeth are red.
It looks like a normal plant.
It is very colourful to attract its prey.
Its leaves are curly pink.
THE SUN DAZZLER SPARKLE PLANT
Aqua coloured trap by Dr Duff, Dr Mackenzie and Dr Hardie
Today in the Asia Rainforest we discovered the Aqua coloured trap.
The insects fly into the pink cup. When it hits the yellow circle the water and drowns its prey. The plant has lots of colour to attract the insects, and then insects are attracted to the colours and then climbs up to the pink layer and then dies. If it doesn’t go to the pink cup, it will touch the ring, then it drips poison acid to kill the insects.
The Mango Paralyser by world famous botanists Professor Griffiths, Istephan and Reed.
Today in the Rainforest us botanists discovered a new species of plant , the Mango paralyser or as it is know in scientific forms the Zabanthia Coration, discovered in the canopy layer, there has also been sightings in the emergent layer.
Although it can kill and paralyse insects and small animals it is threatened by larger animals that can resist the poison that the plant gives off so it can damage or even kill the paralyser although very strong.
Its strong nectar has a scent that smells a bit like mangoes which helps attract the following, bees butterflies, flies and even small rodents. When its prey touches the surfaces of the plant it is instantly paralyzed by the extremely strong poison that the plant holds. Then its body starts to disintegrate thanks to the dissolving liquids the plant has.
It was first sited in the Colombian Rainforest on the 14 of November 2016.
the mars nectar plant by world famous botanists – Professor Neville, Dr Armitage , Dr Marshall
Today when in the Amazonian rainforest we discovered the mars nectar plant. The scientific name is titan Aram nectar plant. You find this plant in any layer of the rainforest but the changes that it faces are death defying because it is in all the layers including the emergent layer it gets killed by the deadly wind .It has adapted to survive by luring in animals like the bee and the fly to eat to survive . This plant has lots of special things about it including it has a special type of nectar that the animals cant resist . One of the fun facts about this amazing plant is once the fly has started to eat the nectar it closes its mouth and the creature dies.
The Botanist killer catcher
By professor Duncan Dr Meldrum professor Diack
This plants scientific name is the Botominyam we based the name of its carnivorous behavior. It has an innocent look, gold nectar orange inside pink outside .It has a colourful entrance, to attract its prey which is Spiders ,Flies , Frogs, butterflies and falling coffee beans, but because the nutrients in the soil are very low it utilizes its prey . This is how the plant works, it goes through the coloured entrance and than there is a tube were there is no oxygen, and after 5 days the tube opens and the body left-over corpse shoots out and makes a beautiful display with gold nectar but the ugly body destroys this pretty display.
Block 2- What have we done so far?
9/11/16
We have been so busy learning all about the rainforest.
We have found out where they are in the world and we have found out that they are made up of different layers. We have begun to classify plants and in numeracy we have looked at symmetry when looking at animals and butterflies. Did you know that there are carnivorous plants, well we have found out about them and we have written reports.
We have lots more to learn so watch this space. We look forward to welcoming mums and dads on parent’s evenings and we hope that they enjoy looking at our work.

Rainforest homework by munro
In class we have been learning about rainforest. We have leaned that rainforests are between the equator and the tropics of Capricorn and cancer. Cancer is on the top and Capricorn is on the bottom and for art we are doing plants so we need to bring in junk , it’s very fun topic.
