Christine Grahame-MSP Visit By Chris

cc
Today on the 6/2/17 Christine Grahame came to our school to tell us about what she does as a MSP. If you do not know what MSP is well, it stands for Member of Scottish Parliament and she is in charge of the train that runs though Scotland and she does animal protection of Scotland .Her favourite bit is to tell people off because she used to be a teacher, so she is very good at telling people off, mostly the bad ones that keep on talking when they’re not supposed to . She also told us about her care over animals and as you can see she really likes them because she got a cat called Mr Smokey from a animal care centre and when she got him he had no hair at all because there were so much fleas on its body that she scratched them off all her hair.

What have I done in school? by Chris

hitleruntitled

In school we have learnt about dictatorship and about the people for example Adolf Hitler and Kim Jong un . With a dictatorship it is not about the people, it is about one person who rules the country and mostly they are a billionaire and have lots of power and army . If anyone stands in their way the dictator may kill them or punish them and most of the people who live there have very strict rules and most of them don’t have cars and are not allowed to watch western films such as Godzilla and a lot more . In the war Hitler was in charge of Germany and he did not like the Jews even though he was a Jew him self and done really bad things to them, they’re too horrible to tell you about . As you can see you would hate to live in a dictatorship country.

Calum Kerr- MP visit by Ava and Katie

c-kerr

Calum Kerr came to Kingsland today to talk to  us (p6a and p6b). He told us about what his favourite and least favourite things are about being an MP .He likes being the digital rep because he gets to try things like virtual reality goggles and 3d printers and he thinks its fun, he also liked helping others and that makes him happy. He said that its hard being an MP because he has to work Monday to Thursday in London and he only gets to see his family on Friday , Saturday and Sunday. He said that he also gets frustrated and annoyed that people are rude to him and lie about him. When he left university he still didn’t know what he would do, he applied to be a teacher but he didn’t realise that it wasn’t his thing so in 2015 he became a MP and  he is still doing it today.

Electrostatic Bubbles

In class we have been doing science and learning about electrostatic force. Our first experiment was when we tried to give a ruler and electric charge to pick up small pieces of paper. The reason it could pick up the paper was because the electrostatic force enabled the paper to defy the gravitational pull. Then we went into groups and got a balloon and some bubbles and we rubbed the balloon on various surfaces (including our heads!) and blew bubbles on to the surface. The force we created helped to fight gravity.

Scottish parliament outreach visit by Andrew & Jack

parlisment

Today  in class Mrs Miller,a member of Scottish parliament outreach came in to talk to us about Scottish parliament and did a workshop. We got clickapads to answer questions that were on the screen and  had our own little debate about smoking being banned and lots of us had different jobs.  we had an election, there were 6 different parties and the party that won was the school party. Everybody found out new things about the parliament that we never knew before. We really enjoyed Mrs Millers visit and we hope she comes in again for the next p6s because we think they will enjoy it to.

Google Expedition

In the library last week from primary 3-7 there was a google expedition. We all had great fun exploring different places  and different things. We all had goggles to put on an we had to move it around.  The teachers had an Ipad to control what we saw. We also had a trip to the Rain forest and saw lots of different animals. It was very exciting and fun. We all loved it!

Fun In The Snow

A couple of weeks ago it snowed and we all went out and played. It was fun because there was something for everyone. We had snowball fights in the muga and snowmen building in the playgrounds and more. If you managed to stay of the tracking sheet you were aloud to lay in the snow on the field at the front of the school. By Chelsea
