How we improved our playground for us and for bugs

Last Thursday we planted our Bizzie Lizzie plants and our tallest sunflowers outside in the playground. The hot sun has made our Bizzie Lizzie plants droop. We also planted the basil that we grew from seeds into small pots.

While some people were planting the other pupils got some twigs and string and made Bug Homes. By Emily and Aimee

It was really fun – Aimee

It made our playground look a lot nicer – Emily

Germany is a Western European country which has a estimated population of 82 Million.

The name for Germany in the German language is Deutschland

The largest city and Capital is Berlin which has more bridges than Venice, but is much bigger than the tiny Italian island.  There are over 180 kilometres of  waterways within the Berlin city limits. This makes it possible to explore Berlin by boat. It is Germanys most multi-cultural city with People from over 184 nations living there. One of its most famous landmarks the Berlin Wall was built on the 13th August 1961 and split the country into two states, East Germany and West Germany.  The wall was torn down on 9th November 1989 and thus it was no longer East and West just one state Germany.

Football is the most popular sport in Germany and they are one of the most successfully national teams having one a total of 4 World Cups and 3 European championships. Its is also the only nation to have one both the men’s and woman’s world cups.

Café 5b Success!

We decided to open a café for our business topic called Café 5b.  We applied for jobs in the company and we all helped to organise the business.  We held the café on Wednesday in the school dining hall and lots of our parents and grandparents came along to support us.  We all chose jobs in the café and we were all very busy!  We raised the grand total of £167.41 which we are going to use to have a day out and to help some charities.  Thank you very much to everyone who came and who helped us on the day!

What mysteries lie in Neidpath Castle?

We had quite an adventure today as we walked on our trip to Neidpath castle.

Inside the castle we were amazed to find a deep well, a dungeon, a prison, a friendly skeleton and even a toilet in the wall !

The castle was so amazing and we were all very excited to see what it would really have been like to live in a castle. Tapestries kept the rooms cosy along with huge fireplaces.

Did anyone smell a rat?

  • Thank you so much to all the parent helpers for supporting us on our castle tour – we could not have done it without you !

exciting trip to elm bank

We went to Elm Bank printers to print our café logo.   First of all Ruth had to scan the logo and then she was able to shrink it and clean it up.  She then showed us 3 different letter layouts with our logo and the school address.  After that she sent the letters to Ian’s computer at the front of the shop and he printed them out on the big printer.  Ian printed two pages on one piece of paper and then used the chopper machine to cut them in half.

Tasty Homework

Wow! I am delighted with Joseph’s homework today. Joseph has made apple crumble for the Gardener’s café homework and has brought in a dish of it foe me to eat. It looks and smells very tasty and appetising. HUGE THANKS to Joseph and his family.
