Block 5 homework

Primary 6- Personal Reading Programme

April- June ‘17

Between April and June you are going to be asked to choose two books to read.

Book one completed by Monday 22nd May

Once you have read book one you will complete a character study.

  • Write a paragraph about the book- where and when does it take place, what is the main action, how does it end.
  • Choose one main character from the book. Take a new page in your jotter and draw this character and label with their name.
  • Write a report about your chosen character (this should be at least three paragraphs). How are we introduced to the character and what happens to them over the course of the story? Describe their appearance and their personality, with evidence to back this up.

Book two completed by Monday 19th June

Once you have read book two you will choose an activity from the list below to demonstrate your understanding of the story.

  • Draw a new front cover and create a blurb for your book
  • Retell the main parts of the story by creating a comic strip
  • Write a book report on your book – what happens, who are the main characters, what was your favourite part and why? (in jotter, powerpoint etc)
  • Create an advert to sell your book! This needs to explain the plot, characters etc… why to buy this book!
  • Create a film of your book
  • Create a biography of your main character – e.g. picture showing appearance, any information about name, age, family etc, personality, interests
  • Write an alternative ending to the story, in the same style
  • Create a diorama showing the most exciting scene in your book – include a paragraph explaining what is happening
