Both P6 classes worked together to think about our new topic for block 5.
This is what we had to think about.
I can investigate a Scottish historical theme to discover how events or the actions of people in the past have had an effect on Scottish society.
What do we know already?
Roman topic in P3, Victorians in P5, Celts in P4, Orkney settlements, Scotland versus England- massive fights, Jacobites, Mary Queen of Scots, 6 nations, Vikings, Myths and legends in Scotland, dinosaurs, Loch Ness monster, castles, Neidpath.
What do we need to know?
When it was, why it happened, what people did, who was involved, effect it had on people, what was the outcome/result, what caused it, how people lived.
What is a Scottish historical theme? the actions of people, the effect that their actions had.
How would we like to do this?
A trip, drama, museums, art, predictions, make weapons, powerpoint, blogs, re enactments.
We chose to do Scottish wars of Independence
Why is this important?
We have the same issues today but we have to deal with them differently, its important to remember what people have done in the past, we should learn from our experiences and respect those who have been affected
I can choose which primary and secondary sources are best to use when researching events in the past.
What do we know already?
computers and books, education, Tim said primary is the first experience and secondary is copies.
What do we need to know?
We need to research the events, what is a primary resource and what is a secondary resource, who is involved
