Glow Blogs & Bluesky

Bluesky is a new social app/ system. You can use Bluesky content in your Glow Blog in a few different ways.

Embed

Embed a Bluesky post in a post or page. All you need to do is paste the link to a post on Bluesky into the blog editor. In the block editor you might want to use the Bluesky block, but you do not need to.

If you want a bit of a preview you can use the Add Media Button and then Insert from URL in the classic editor.

Example

Show the Feed

Bluesky supports RSS so you can bring an RSS feed from bluesky into Glow Blogs. It is a bit tricky to find the RSS feed from Bluesky. You can either look at the source code of the page! or use another service to find it quickly. RSS Lookup – Find RSS feeds on any URL

For example the url for Education Scotland Learning for Sustainability is

https://bsky.app/profile/edscotlfs.bsky.social

And RSS lookup converts this to

https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:6pvw4rinhpc6ajw62quevvkw/rss

You can use that is an RSS widget on a classic theme, or by using the RSS widget in a block post or page. You can use the block in a Site Editor theme too.

Here is the RSS block with the above url:

  • Tesco Stronger Starts funds local community projects – improving school playgrounds, growing & food projects, outdoor play & kit for healthy activities. Up to £1500 grants available across Scotland for LAs, registered charities & not-for-profit […]
  • Introduction to Peatlands – a Customised Award qualification on peatlands & their role in the water & carbon cycles, biodiversity, land-uses, degradation & restoration. Funded places available till March 31. www.carboncentre.org/post/new-peatland-qualification-launched-for-secondary-schools https://www.carboncentre.org/post/new-peatland-qualification-launched-for-secondary-schools

As you can see the RSS widget expects a title. And any links in your post are not clickable.

You can also see a classic RSS widget in the right sidebar on this page.
