Christmas & December Dates Letter 2019
We would like to communicate with you a new, bespoke school email address that we would love parents/families and staff to use to make us aware of any success stories about your child/children.
This will provide us with an improved way of celebrating the many achievements (in school and outwith school) of our young people.
success@chrystonhigh.n-lanark.sch.uk
This email address is not replacing any of our usual school contact details but is an additional one specific to sharing good news stories. This will create a platform to celebrate even more pupil success through announcements, tweets and newsletters. We look forward to reading the many emails that I am sure will begin to fill up the new inbox in the coming months!
This year in Chryston High we have been carrying out a review of our current S3 curriculum. In negotiation with staff, parents and many of the young people within the school we have decided to make a change to our current curriculum model and move to 9 subjects studied in S3 rather than 11.
Further information on these changes by found by clicking on the links below.
Your child will take part in a mock run through of the options process in the coming weeks but the information gained will only be used to help consider staffing and timetable for session 19/20 in school – this is not your child’s final choices.
An information night will be taking place in Chryston High School for all parents of S4, 5 and 6 pupils on Tuesday 29th October starting at 18.30.
The presentation will relate to all aspects of the Scottish Qualifications Authority, the upcoming assessments in December, the final exams in April / May and what takes place in school throughout the academic year to ensure success for all students.
The topic headings from the presentation are:
There will also be an opportunity to speak to a member of the Senior Leadership Team at the end of the evening to discuss specific questions. We look forward to seeing you there!
Details of the pick up points and drop off points can be found here
The contract specification is agreed between the North Lanarkshire Council and Strathclyde Passenger Transport.
Tomorrow sees the start of Active Girls’ Week. All female pupils and members of staff are looking forward to taking part in our flash mob. Watch out for highlights on @CHS_Chryston and @ChrystonYA.
Find out more about our plans for Active Girls Week.
This Friday the 4th of October sees all of our S1 pupils head to Drumpelier Country Park to participate in our annual interdisciplinary event Picnic in the Park.
Pupils have been working in PE lessons to develop their cardio respiratory endurance, navigate between controls on a map and judge their running pace between controls. In Health and Food Technology the S1’s have been learning how to fuel their bodies before sport and replenish energy stores after the competition. Each pupil has prepared food for themselves to eat before and after the event. In Geography, the pupils have been learning how to read a map and use the features of the map to get to the controls in the safest and fastest route.
All of our S1’s are excited to compete in one of our 3 challenging courses. Photos will be published after the event. However, you can follow some of the action on the day via the PE Dept twitter feed at @chrystonpe
