Travel and Tourism
This course consists of four units. As there is no exam within the course pupils are continually assessed through their coursework.
UK and Worldwide
learners will develop their knowledge, in relation to travel and tourism in the United Kingdom and the rest of the world, and the skills required to meet the needs of customers. Learners who complete this unit will be able to carry out an investigation of travel and tourism in UK and rest of the world to meet the customer holiday needs. They will also research current trends in tourism worldwide as well as the benefits and advantages of tourism to Kenya.
Scotland
This unit is to enable learners to develop their knowledge, in relation to travel and tourism in Scotland, and the skills required to meet the needs of customers. Learners who complete this unit will be able to carry out an investigation of travel and tourism in Scotland and meet customer holiday needs. They will also research current trends in tourism as well as the benefits and advantages of tourism to the country.
Employability
The general aim of this unit is to enable learners to develop skills to become effective job seekers and employees in the travel and tourism industry.
Learners will gain an understanding of the skills and qualities identified by employers as being the most important in the travel and tourism industry. Learners who complete this unit will be able to investigate different careers from across the travel and tourism industry. They will also be able to demonstrate employability skills and plan for employment in a particular travel and tourism job. Lastly, they will organise and undertake a work based scenario.
Customer Service
Learners who complete this unit will develop the skills and knowledge to enable them to meet the needs of customers. Learners will be able to develop communication skills and learn about promoting products and services and how to deal with customer issues
How will I be assessed?
There is no final exam. This is course work assessed.
There will be 12 assessment folio pieces which will be internally marked by the teacher at both National 4 and National 5 level.
