Who are we

WHO WE ARE

Skills Development Scotland (SDS) is Scotland’s national careers and skills service. Our careers advisers, Claire and Suzanne, deliver career information, advice and guidance to S1-S6 pupils. You might meet them with your class at a group activity, at a careers event or at a one-to-one appointment. 

Suzanne also works with young people who have left school and can continue to support anyone who needs help or support with their next steps.

Throughout the school year there are a range of planned engagements and activities that careers advisers deliver.

There are also opportunities for pupils to arrange an appointment if you want to get some advice.

You can chat to your adviser about lots of things including:

  • Finding out about yourself, your strengths and skills 
  • Making subject choices 
  • Different types of careers and how to research them 
  • Developing the types of skills that are useful in a job 
  • Routes into careers, including apprenticeships 
  • Building and developing your networks 
  • Creating CVs 
  • Making applications and applying for courses
