New Option Process for S2 to S3

This year in Chryston High we have been carrying out a review of our current S3 curriculum. In negotiation with staff, parents and many of the young people within the school we have decided to make a change to our current curriculum model and move to 9 subjects studied in S3 rather than 11.

Further information on these changes by found by clicking on the links below.

Option Form

Your child will take part in a mock run through of the options process in the coming weeks but the information gained will only be used to help consider staffing and timetable for session 19/20 in school – this is not your child’s final choices.

Chryston High School Literacy Festival

The school Literacy Festival will be taking place on Wednesday and Thursday next week (11th and 12th October). 11 different speakers will be visiting the school over the two days to lead our S1 and S2 pupils in a wide range of activities.  The programme for this is attached below.

There is a wide variety of authors, artists, scientists, comedians and musicians attending the event and we are sure that all students will enjoy the range of activities on offer.

S2 Options Information

school-badge-colourThe S2 options process is now upon us.  Over the next few weeks your S2 child will be asked to select 11 subjects from the options detailed in the booklet and form linked below.

The key to success is making good choices which will set up the foundations for a prosperous future for each and every pupil in Chryston High School.

The dates shown above are also at the back of the booklet.  We highly recommend attending the parents’ info evening on Thursday 2nd February for in-depth information and the rationale behind the whole process.

Chryston High Ski Trip 2016

This week will see 29 students from S1 to S6 get involved the annual Chryston High School Ski trip.

Staff and pupils will depart from Glasgow on Saturday 20th February and head off to the Austrian mountains for a week of on piste action.  Landing in Salzburg, they will then make their way to the mountain resort of Aximer Lizum (just above Innsbruck).

It is here they will spend a week doing a combination of skiing and snowboarding in different groups based on ability and experience.

They will receive guidance from highly skilled instructors throughout the day with activities planned for each night, including a trip to Innsbruck.

Word from the slopes is that conditions are favourable at the moment and will continue to be for the duration of the trip.

Let’s hope this year’s group have as much fun as last year’s budding Bode Millers!
