German Master Classes
The Modern Languages department is offering pupils sitting German SQA exams masterclass on Thursday 25th May.
National 5 9am-10:30am
Higher/AH 11am-12:30pm
Pupils should report to Mr Kirk’s room in ML2 where there will be a range of activities to help revise for the final exam on 2nd June. We will do work on vocabulary, listening, reading and writing.

S2 Info Evening – 02/02/2017
S2 Parents’ Information Evening is on Thursday 2nd February at 6.45pm. This is an opportunity to find out about our S3 curriculum and speak to teachers about their own subject. The arrangements for the evening are in the attached booklet in the link below
We are looking forward to meeting our S2 parents.
S4-6 Trip to Munich and Salzburg
The Modern Languages department are delighted to offer S4-6 German pupils the opportunity to visit Munich and Salzburg. The trip will run from Wednesday 14th to Monday 19th June 2017 and will cost £540.
Some proposed activities include:
- Walking tour of Munich
- Visit Marienplatz, museums and English gardens
- Visit to Schloss Nymphenburg
- Visit to Erding
- Guided tour of Allianz Arena
- Visit to a local school in Herrsching
- Day trip to Füssen to Neuschwanstein Castle
- Day trip to Salzburg in Austria
First deposits are due in Friday 14th October. Please see the attached letter for more details.
SQA Info Evening PowerPoint

his powerpoint focuses on the role of parents, pupils and teachers in helping to prepare for the challenges in the senior school. Explanation of coursework elements and SQA requirements and deadlines are illustrated. a brief summary of this years’ exam results are provided in relation to the previous 3 years and in line with NLC averages.

Languages CPD at Chryston
We had a fantastic turnout for our TeachMeet event on Saturday. Seventy-five modern languages teaching professionals joined us at Chryston High School for a couple of hours of CPD and presentations from leading practitioners.
We would like to extend a special thank you to Chris Devlin, Joanne Sanderson, and Angela Boyd for sharing their experience and insight. Thanks also to everyone who came along and helped make the day such a huge success.

German Concert for Primary Pupils
The Modern Languages Department in collaboration with the Goethe Institut in Glasgow are excited to announce that Martina Schwarz, author of the Learn German with Songs series, will be coming to Chryston High School to offer an interactive concert for primary pupils from our cluster.
The concert will take place on Wednesday 1st June. See you there!

Trip to Ypres and the Somme
The Modern Languages Department are running a trip to Ypres and the Somme as part of an interdisciplinary project to commemorate the centenary of the First World War.
The trip will take place between the 10th and 14th of February 2017 and is open to all S2 pupils (current S1 pupils).
All details are in the consent form attached and deposits should be handed directly to Mr Kirk.
