Yesterday, our Primary 6 JRSOs had a visit from Police Sergeant Douglas. He came to talk to them about road safety and asked them about their previous JRSO campaign. He let them see the speed gun and explained how it worked. We are very grateful that he gave up his time for us. Please look out for more JRSO work coming in the near future!

While P6 have been taking part in their Play Leader training on Monday afternoons, P5 have been busy with Mrs Douglas, planning and preparing for their own stop motion animations.
Over the past 4 weeks, Liam, Eveline, Conor and Freya have been exploring how stop motion animations are created. They have written their own storyboards and spent time creating resources for 2 different short stories. These stories will be shared with P1/2 when they are ready.
Today the children began filming their stories and quickly learned that it was not going to be a simple task! It requires a lot of patience, trial and error. The group are learning so much from each other and it has been lovely to see everyone being so supportive.

What a busy two weeks we’ve had … but it’s been great! The planned activities have really helped the children settle and reconnect. Today, we finally were able to present our learning about life cycles. We started this piece of work during our biodiversity topic and were due to share our work when we started term 3. Sadly, this had to wait! The children worked in groups or individually, to research the life cycle of a living thing. They then had to display this information in an eye catching way. They worked very hard on this project, with great team work and cooperation. Although it was started a long time ago, I know they’d be keen for you to see their work! Happy Easter and we look forward to seeing you all again in the new term!
Primary 5/6 spent another lovely day being creative on Wednesday! We took a wander down to the beach in the sunshine in search of some interesting natural items to use back in the classroom. We had great fun “purlin in da ebb” to look for crabs, fish and other interesting living things.

P5/6 have spent many weeks researching an area from our Biodiversity topic and have been preparing a PowerPoint presentation to share their learning. It was wonderful to finally see their presentations this week and give each other feedback as to what we thought went well and what could be done to make it even better. Each group looked at the importance of plants and how they benefit society in different ways.

What a superb end to our first term! Over the past two days, the children have worked brilliantly in groups, pairs and on their own to carry out research on their chosen life cycle. We look forward to sharing our finished displays and information next term! We enjoyed a brisk walk around the Boddam loop road during our class P.E. time today and finished off with a short musical concert from our cello and violin players. It was fabulous to hear them play so beautifully and with great confidence!
A huge well done to all the children for handling this first term so well! We are extremely proud of you. Have a relaxing holiday!
Recently, P5/6 were given a talk and PowerPoint presentation by our class member Ethan. He prepared his talk with the help of Mrs Leslie, to tell us all about Erb’s Palsy and how this affects his daily life. We learned about how Ethan came to have this condition and he told us about some of the physical difficulties he experiences. We also leaned about some of the exercises he does to strengthen his arm. This week, as a thank you for listening, Ethan gave us all a tattoo, badge and wrist band as a gift. Here we all are! Thank you, Ethan!

Today Tory, Kayla, Evie and Lois from Primary 6, represented our school in the Shetland Heat of the Euroquiz. We are delighted to say that they came third equal! Congratulations to them! It shows that all their hard word paid off.
