We’re only a couple of days in and already we have been busy reconnecting with each other through various games and crafts. This week we started a collaborative painting project. Each person has a grid to paint and when all the grids come together it will reveal a mystery picture! Watch this space to find out what it is!
We have also enjoyed making some new bookmarks in preparation for getting back into our daily reading in class. There were even families of bookmarks made…of all sizes!
During our online learning, we began to look at stars and constellations as part of our Space topic. We had fun today finding out about the Zodiac sign our birthdays fall under and what that constellation looks like. Can you guess what they are?
The wet and windy weather hasn’t stopped us from enjoying our new playtime equipment. The skipping has been very popular and I think it is possibly time to dig out all of those old skipping rhymes for the children to try!
It has been lovely to see the class taking turns, co-operating, negotiating and problem solving in our outdoor play area. Well done P5/6!
The class like to try and jump over the spinning rope without the rope touching them.I wonder what’s on the menu today?
Recently, P5/6 were given a talk and PowerPoint presentation by our class member Ethan. He prepared his talk with the help of Mrs Leslie, to tell us all about Erb’s Palsy and how this affects his daily life. We learned about how Ethan came to have this condition and he told us about some of the physical difficulties he experiences. We also leaned about some of the exercises he does to strengthen his arm. This week, as a thank you for listening, Ethan gave us all a tattoo, badge and wrist band as a gift. Here we all are! Thank you, Ethan!
Today’s quote comes from the truly inspirational Tom Moore!
The 99-year-old war veteran has raised a staggering £15m (and counting) for NHS staff after reaching his goal of walking 100 laps of his garden.
Capt Tom Moore had hoped to achieve the target in time for his 100th birthday on 30 April, and walked the last 25 lengths on live TV on Thursday morning, with a guard of honour from the 1st Battalion of the Yorkshire Regiment by his side.
We can learn so much from looking at what Tom has achieved. Set a goal….work hard until it’s reached….face and overcome setbacks along the way….never give up and believe you can do whatever you set your heart on.
We hope you have been enjoying the lovely Spring weather this week and that this post finds you well and looking forward to your Easter weekend. Today’s quote comes from the great Albus Dumbledore … always try to look for the positives even when at first, they seem difficult to see. I may just have to look out these books again during our lockdown!
That’s been a fast week! What have you been up to? In my house, we’ve been baking/cooking and watching Masterchef, playing Cluedo, getting our daily exercise outside and doing lots of reading. I am also trying to get my MRI hat finished. We hope whatever you are doing, you are having fun! If you are quick, you might be able to get out to play in the snow this morning! Today’s quote is especially for Mrs A. Henderson!
Well, that’s this term coming to an end. It’s certainly not how we pictured these last few weeks would go but we are sure you’ve done wonderfully at home, working on your packs and Blog ideas plus other activities you’ll have thought of yourselves. As we enter into our holidays, we ask that you and your families have a well deserved break and just spend time together, doing what you love. It’s hard when we are limited in what we can do but be inventive and think of ways you can do what makes you happy! Also, try to find ways you can keep in touch with friends…either using technology or a more traditional way! Whatever happens, know this – Mrs Henderson and I are thinking of you all and wishing you a happy and healthy holiday. Mrs Smith 🤗
I know it’s Friday night…but I am unsettled and feeling like there is something missing. Then I remembered…our Friday inspirational quote! Every Friday, we pick a pupil to choose an inspirational quote to be displayed in our class for the week. The week of our Education Scotland visit, Fearne picked a beautiful quote. It seems very fitting for now so I’d like to share it with you. Who knows….our Friday Blog Quotes could catch on?
We had a visit from the school nurse today to remind us how to wash our hands properly. It is so important to keep washing our hands thoroughly, especially at this time of year with all of the nasty bugs that can so easily be spread from person to person.
Everyone took turns to cover their hands in a special cream that will show up under UV light. Then we all washed our hands carefully, following the advice given, and put our hands under the UV light. If anything did not get washed properly, it showed up on your hands with the special light.
Everyone did a brilliant job and now we need to remember to keep this up with our daily handwashing routines!
Today we took part in a live, national, health and well-being lesson. We watched and listened as the presenters talked to us about recognising and expressing our emotions and building our resilience by developing a growth mindset. They also touched on self care and we explored a range of methods we could use both inside and outside school. We recorded some of our thoughts on our activity sheets as we watched.
If you would like to watch it again at home…follow the link below.
