On 13th September we had a visit to the Sound Gospel hall to do a bible study workshop. They were very kind and the children enjoyed a snack and juice there.
In the afternoon we visited the museum. They gave us a tour of the ‘heritage’ section and we learnt how to make butter. It was easier To do than we all thought it would be and it tasted delicious on the bannocks.
Today Mr Rose came in to teach us all about the Water Cycle.
On Thursday afternoon, while the P6s were at Bikeability, the P5s had a great time learning how to play Ultimate frisbee. Finlay Watson, Captain of the Stirling University team and Kate Tyler taught our P5s how to do different throws and how to catch the frisbee. We then had a quick tournament in the multicourt.
Primary 5s had fun learning French weather phrases and then using Sock Puppets, an app on the IPad, to record conversations.
Mr Rose came into class again today to help us to learn about weather. We learnt about the water cycle and the states of matter – solids, liquids and gases – ice, water and water vapour.
It was lovely to see the new Primary 5/6 class back, full of enthusiasm and fun for the new term.
We are all very proud of the excellent achievements of Archie, Molly and Niamh who all took part in instrumental exams this week. They all gained distinction in their grade- which is a super achievement!
In Music today Molly and Niamh each performed their exam piece on the clarinet, for the rest of the class, which was a delight to hear. We’re hoping Archie will perform his exam piece on the cornet for us next week.

Primary 6 & 7 enjoyed an excellent day working with members of the Scottish Opera who were helping to put the final touches to their performance of The Tale o’ Tam o’ Shanter.
Working alongside pupils from Cunningsburgh and Sandwick the pupils only had the morning to practise their routines before the dress rehearsal and actual performance in the afternoon.
Dunrossness bairns formed the Witches Crew and gave a chilling performance as they sang their main song Witches Brew.
Primary 5 were delighted to have the opportunity to see the performance.
Everyone agreed it was great fun and P6 & 7 loved working with members of the Scottish Opera.
Molly, Archie and Emmy are delighted to receive their copies of Shetland Life which they were involved in writing articles for.
