As our end of term class reward, Primary 1/2 chose ice cream. It was very welcome in the hot weather and everyone enjoyed it.
We would like to say a huge THANK YOU to Mainlands Shop for very kindly donating the ice cream to our class.

We have been working together today on looking after our environment. Here we are working together to make posters about litter. Our posters will appear on here soon.
Last week we were busy working as a whole school to clear the beach of rubbish. It was sad to find so much plastic washed up on our beautiful beach. Well done everybody for cleaning it up, what a great job you did!
On Wednesday 28th November, Kirsty’s Dad came to visit our class to talk about his job as a retained fireman. He brought in lots of things to show us and we leanred about the importance of his job in our local community. P1/2 asked him LOTS of questions and we all had fun trying on some of his firefighter gear! The oxygen tank was VERY heavy!
Thank you to everyone who sent in information about their job in the local community too, the children have discovered the wide range of services in our local area and the importance of each one.
As part of our “Around our School” topic, we have been finding out about jobs in our local area and the types of services they provide. Thank you to everyone who has sent in information about the jobs they do, the children loved finding out about them all and could see how important every single person was in our community.
We were lucky enough to have Dr Anita Graham in to visit our class on Wednesday to share information about the type of work she does. The class all came up with questions prior to her visit and everyone loved getting to try out some of the equipment Dr Graham uses on a day to day basis. Afterwards we shared our thoughts on what we want to be when we are older…a Doctor was by far the most popular choice!
What a super day! Beautiful day for our procession and galley burning, happy and enthusiastic bairns, a great school squad ably led by Michaela and a super SMUHA Jarl Squad. Not too many photos to share…we just soaked up the atmosphere and enjoyed the day!!
It is nearly here! The South Mainland Up-Helly-Aa day arrives tomorrow and P1/2 are ready to meet the Vikings! Our school galley is ready too and we just need some good weather so that we can burn it! Good luck to the SMUHA squad! We are looking forward to seeing you….and our P7 Jarl Squad too!
Well done to Kate and Arthur who had their galley shield designs picked out by Mr. Ian Bray, the 2018 South Mainland Jarl. They will help to make up their shields ready to decorate our school galley. Watch this space to see the end results!
P1/2 were excited to prepare for advent by helping to create our Kindness Wreath. Each day, we read out a different act of kindness that it is hoped they will try to carry out at school. Please see your child’s diary for suggested acts of kindness that they could do at home during the weekends too! As well as our class wreath, each child received a note home asking them to contribute to our Food Bank on a given day. We are very grateful to you for supporting us with this.
What a super sports day! Primary 1/2 were so well behaved all day and waited very patiently for their turn to run. When it came to their events, everybody joined in and gave everything they had! I am so proud of all your achievements and Mrs Henderson would be too! Thank you to all those who came to support us throughout the day and cheer us on. We’ll all sleep tonight!
