This week we have been focusing on Easter. Mrs Henderson introduced the Easter story earlier in the week and the children sequenced the story to retell it. They made Easter cards and had the opportunity to choose Easter Tasks during their free time. Today we spoke about Good Friday and Easter Sunday and how some of the things we do at Easter time are linked to the story. We were lucky enough to be visited by the Easter Bunny today and were left clues to find our hidden baskets! We also did a spot of egg rolling to end our day! 🙂
We had our dress rehearsal this morning and are delighted to be getting a chance to show you our performance of “Stick Man” tonight…finally! Children are to be back at school for 6pm tonight to get ready. Enjoy the show!
What a super day! Beautiful day for our procession and galley burning, happy and enthusiastic bairns, a great school squad ably led by Michaela and a super SMUHA Jarl Squad. Not too many photos to share…we just soaked up the atmosphere and enjoyed the day!!
Well done to Archie who won one of the prizes for our World Book Day competition! It must have been so hard to pick a winner! Well done to all who entered.
It is nearly here! The South Mainland Up-Helly-Aa day arrives tomorrow and P1/2 are ready to meet the Vikings! Our school galley is ready too and we just need some good weather so that we can burn it! Good luck to the SMUHA squad! We are looking forward to seeing you….and our P7 Jarl Squad too!
We enjoyed celebrating World Book Day today and were delighted that Mrs Fiona Henderson could be with us to celebrate too! Our day started in the Library where we got to change our books. Then we looked at all the tatties, fruits and stones that pupils decorated as their favourite story characters. The winners are yet to be announced! We had a special Assembly where we did a quiz and were handed out our £1 book tokens. Mrs Henderson read us a story but didn’t tell us the title or show us the cover. We went back to class to draw and write down our own ideas. We all enjoyed celebrating the joy of reading!
Three cheers for our cooks, for crackers and for friends to enjoy our meal with! HIP HIP…
P1/2 look fabulous today in their Christmas jumpers! Thank you for your kind donations once again!
The excitement is mounting! We have had our dress rehearsal and just have a few final adjustments to make to our toy puppet costumes. Can you tell what we are? We hope you are looking forward to the show!
This will be the last post of session 2016/17! We’ve all had a super year together. I look forward to having some of the P1 pupils back after the summer and I know they will help me settle the new P1 pupils in. Today has been a fun day at school…made all the better by some good news from Mrs Henderson!! We enjoyed a visit from Granny Smith who came in to play in the Teachers V Pupils netball match. Not sure she was much of an asset but it made us laugh!! Thank you for all the kind cards, messages and gifts I received today…very much appreciated. Thank you for your support and happy holidays everybody! See you on Wednesday 16th August!!
