Today we were lucky enough to have a visit from PC Cameron Jamieson who is the link officer with our school. He came in to tell us about Stranger Danger, Road Safety and also a little bit about his job.
We were very interested and excited to see all the things he told us and showed us. He had a big bag of things that help him do his job. We found out about the importance of wearing reflective clothing at night when we are out walking and we also told him other ways to stay safe when walking at night too.
PC Jamieson showed us the baton and sprays that help to keep him safe when out on patrol.
Then he showed us the handcuffs. PC Jamieson pretended to arrest Mrs Inkster to show how the handcuffs work, thankfully he let her go again!
Then we found out more about the radio and how it was important to help communicate with other police officers, not only here in Shetland, but in other places in Scotland too.
Writing is something we do all the time and PC Jamieson said it was important to keep writing and put as much information in as possible as it helped with being a police officer. They have to write lots of details down in their books.
Then we got to have a closer look at things and ask PC Jamieson questions. He showed us safety glasses, the first aid kit, he even let us try on his hat! Some of us think that maybe this could be the job we want to do when we grow up.
