Primary Cluster Health and Wellbeing Event

wellbeingAll 6 schools in the Chryston Cluster; Auchinloch Primary, Chryston High, Chryston Primary, Gartcosh Primary, Glenmanor Primary and Stepps Primary have planned a Health and Wellbeing information event on the evening of 9th March.

The event will be held in            Chryston High School and will start at 7.00pm and is open to parents from all Primaries as well as parents from S1 to S3.

The evening is a chance for you as parents to talk to some of our invited guests who will be able to tell you more about aspects of the Health and Wellbeing Curriculum and how this will impact on your child. In particular you will be able to see resources used to support Relationships Sexual Health and Parenthood education and hear from Susi Cornwell to supported schools across North and South Lanarkshire to introduce this curriculum.

You will also be able to see and speak to professionals about:
•   NSPCC/ChildLine- How we can support our children
•   NLC Catering – who will have lunch and menu information
•   Active Schools – who will be able to talk through after schools sports and sports activities for schools
•   Cook NL/Focus on Food – more information on the Food and Health element of Curriculum for Excellence
•   Information on online safety and how to keep your child safe in this ever changing environment
•   HEALTHY – Learn more about this approach being developed for the Health and Wellbeing Curriculum
•   RSHP – The relationships, sexual health and parenthood information, leaflets and resources used in school.

This is an excellent opportunity to find out more about this area of the curriculum and ask the questions that you may have.

School College Partnership

This year North Lanarkshire Council are implementing a standardised senior curriculum model. All schools will be operating a 33 period week to allow more flexibility in helping plan each young persons learning journey. Pupils will now be able to take greater consideration of future career by having wider choice and more opportunities. These courses will be on offer in Chryston High, neighbouring schools and from our college partners. The information below will hopefully help to provide information regarding these courses and pupils, parents and guardians make informed choices to help each and everyone of our pupils attain further success this year.

Chryston High Ski Trip 2016

This week will see 29 students from S1 to S6 get involved the annual Chryston High School Ski trip.

Staff and pupils will depart from Glasgow on Saturday 20th February and head off to the Austrian mountains for a week of on piste action.  Landing in Salzburg, they will then make their way to the mountain resort of Aximer Lizum (just above Innsbruck).

It is here they will spend a week doing a combination of skiing and snowboarding in different groups based on ability and experience.

They will receive guidance from highly skilled instructors throughout the day with activities planned for each night, including a trip to Innsbruck.

Word from the slopes is that conditions are favourable at the moment and will continue to be for the duration of the trip.

Let’s hope this year’s group have as much fun as last year’s budding Bode Millers!
