Ben Nevis Challenge – Saturday 18th June, 2016

Thank you to all S3, S4 and S5 parents and pupils for quickly returning consent forms and bus money  for the Ben Nevis trip.

Can all S4 and S5 pupils who haven’t already collected their sponsor forms for this event please collect one from Miss Renicks as soon as possible.  Once all pupils have returned from study leave, there will be a meeting to give out important information regarding health and safety, equipment and the finer details of the trip.

National 5 German – Master Class

German flagThe Modern Languages department is offering pupils sitting the National 5 German a masterclass on Thursday 26th May between 1:30pm and 3:20pm.  Pupils should report to Mr Kirk’s room in ML2 where there will be a range of activities to help revise for the final exam on 1st June.  We will do work on vocabulary, listening, reading and writing.

German Concert for Primary Pupils

The Modern Languages Department in collaboration with the Goethe Institut in Glasgow are excited to announce that Martina Schwarz, author of the Learn German with Songs series, will be coming to Chryston High School to offer an interactive concert for primary pupils from our cluster.

The concert will take place on Wednesday 1st June.  See you there!

Trip to Ypres and the Somme

TynecotThe Modern Languages Department are running a trip to Ypres and the Somme as part of an interdisciplinary project to commemorate the centenary of the First World War.

The trip will take place between the 10th and 14th of February 2017 and is open to all S2 pupils (current S1 pupils).

All details are in the consent form attached and deposits should be handed directly to Mr Kirk.

Ypres and the Somme consent form

P6 Visit – Wednesday 18th May

On WedneClustersday 18th May, the P6 classes from our cluster primaries will come to us for a visit.  This will take place in the morning , across 3 periods, giving pupils a taste of what life is like at secondary school.  They will be allocated classes on arrival and then taken to each lesson by our more senior students.  Pupils will have the opportunity to experience both practical and non-practical lessons in their morning at CHS before being transported back to primary school for lunch.  Each P6 pupil should travel to their own primary school in the morning and should not come directly to the high school.

2016 SQA Exams Reminder

School Badge - ColourA reminder that the 2016 SQA exam diet is set to start next week.

It officially starts on Wednesday 4th May but the first exam at Chryston High School will be for English on Thursday 5th May.  Even although this is an inservice day all exams will still be going ahead as planned.

Please make sure your child has checked their exam timetable well in advance and knows exactly when their first exam is.

Jeans Day

As part oSchool Badge - Colourf the fundraising for World Challenge, Chryston High School are having a ‘Jeans Day’  on Thursday 24th March.  The cost to participate in this event will be £2 and the money collected will go towards the World Challenge Expedition to Southern Tanzania in 2017.  Further details can be found in the letters that went out with students today.
