Unfortunately our visit to Howard House Care Home had to be cancelled the last two weeks. However we hope to be back again next Thursday.
Here are some photos from our last visit when Centrestage also attended, we had lots of fun. We have also made the front cover of the CAPA newsletter, please click on the link below.

Here are the P5 and P6 girls who attend football training on a Monday with Bethany, our Ayrshire College student and girls football coach. They also represented us superbly at last week’s Grange Cluster Cup first event. They didn’t win the event but they had lots of fun and very proudly came back to school with the Fair Play Cup. This was awarded in recognition of their positive, enthusiastic attitude and sportsmanlike behaviour throughout the event. Well done, girls!! We are so proud of you.
Unfortunately, we have no team strips for the girls who played last week in our school orienteering tops. We would be extremely grateful if there was a company or business with a family link to Gargieston which would be able to sponsor us and so help us to have new strips for all our future football events. Our very successful boys team need new strips too. We would be so grateful for any help.
We need donations of kitchen roll tubes for an exciting STEM challenge we have planned for the children. Any donations would be greatly received – thank you.

On Tuesday straight after lunch P6 were given a visit by Microsoft to teach us all about Microbits and coding. We were given a USB cable, a battery pack and a microbit chip. We went onto a website called Microsoft Make Code and clicked on the first option which was Microbit. On the simulator we were taught how to code pictures onto our microbit and if we plugged in the USB it appeared on the chip. First we learnt how to code a heart shape that flashed in the centre as a basic of code. Then we were allowed to create our own pictures on the simulator. And for a challenge we had to code a game of rock paper scissors on our chips. After that we could make as many pictures on the microbits we wanted for the last couple of minutes. All of P6 would like to give a huge thanks for Microsoft and the teachers from St Mungo’s High School and all the people at Microsoft. We really enjoyed playing with the microbits.

Two parents / friends of each Primary 7 child would be made most welcome at our play. Any Primary 6 children coming along to join in as a choir can also bring an adult with them.
Entry cost is a minimum donation of £2 per adult and will be payable on the night. All money collected will be donated to Poppy Scotland.
Primary 7 children should start arriving at 6.30pm or 6.45pm if already dressed in costumes. All children have been informed of the clothes they will be required to wear. Primary 6 children should arrive, dressed mainly in black please, at 6.45pm.
The children have also been invited to perform at a Kilmarnock District History Group meeting on Tuesday 28th November at 7.30 pm. It would be lovely to see as many of the Primary 7s as possible, also at this event. More details nearer the time.
