P3 at The Dick Institute

Yesterday, as part of our whole school focus on Writing, Primary 3 went to The Dick Institute to hear a story from author Theresa Breslin. She read one of her stories about dragons and then illustrator Kate Leiper showed how she tackles drawing the pictures to go with the theme of the book.

The ladies very kindly signed copies of their books for some of the children and two copies for the school as well.

This is Ali’s fabulous story he wrote from his visit – well done, Ali!

P5/6 Running Club

Well done to all our P5s and 6s who ran today in glorious sunshine !

Last Orders

The last pick up for orders is on the morning  of Thursday 31st October, so please have your orders in tomorrow. Thank you for your support.

STEM Family Learning Clubs

Thank you to everyone who competed the Microsoft Form about the areas of STEM you child is interested in.  This has allowed the STEM working party to tailor each club to what children working at that level are most interested in.

The results were as follows:

P5-6 club will have an Electricity theme and this will be held in Term 1.  Unfortunately, P7s will be unable to sign up for this club at this time due to Pantomime rehearsals and performances.  They will be involved in other STEM experiences throughout the year.

P2-4 club will have a Space theme and this will be held in Term 2.

Pre-school – P1 club will have a Living Things theme and this will be held in Term 3.

Each club will run for four weeks and the expectation is that pupils will attend with an adult to allow them to share their learning with someone in their family.  More information on how to sign up for our P5-6 club will follow soon.

P4-7 GFG Christmas Orders

Please return all P4-7 GFG Christmas orders to school by Wednesday 30th October.

**CHEQUES SHOULD BE MADE PAYABLE TO THE GARGIESTON FUNDRAISING GROUP**

ECC and P1-3 orders will follow next week.

Netball

Due to many children going straight home tomorrow to prepare for Hallowe’en, the Netball Club has been cancelled for this one night. Training will resume as normal next week.

Many thanks and apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

ECC Word Aware

‘Big’

For the next 2 weeks we are going to be learning about  ‘big’. We have been discussing things that are big and not big in and around the ECC. The children have been taking part in a range of activities to help understand the concept of big. To enhance your child’s understanding please encourage them to look for things at home or when you’re out and about that are big and not big.               e.g this box is big but this box is not big.

Please post photos of things that are big and not big on your child’s E-portfolio.

Make & Taste Sessions ECC

We will be running Make & Taste Sessions starting Thursday the 7th of November for 4 weeks. In these sessions we encourage parents to come along with their child and have some fun making some healthy snacks together.

If you would like to come along, please add your name to the list in the cloakroom.  This will be on a first come first served basis as  numbers are limited to 10 spaces per session.

AM session: 9am-9.30am PM session: 1pm-1.30pm
