Health and Safety

In order to ensure the safety of all pupils within the school and ECC, could we ask all mums, dads grans, grandpas, carers, childminders and visitors to ensure that, as they enter and exit our playground at any point during the day, they check that all gates are securely closed behind them.                  Thank you very much.

Walk to School Month

As part of our Rights Respecting School work and Eco developments at Gargieston, we are keen to encourage healthy lifestyles for all our pupils in the school and ECC. We also wish to ease traffic congestion in our school car park. For this reason, we have decided this year to have a “Walk to School” month throughout May and would encourage as many of our pupils who are able, to join in. We talked about this at Friday’s assembly. At the bottom of this post is the powerpoint that was shown to pupils at assembly.

Assembly Awards

Well done to all the children who received awards at Friday’s assembly. Our P1-3 Starwriters were Harrison McColl, Callie Parker, Emily Steven, Charley Lightbody, Ava Rose and Chloe Allison. The P4-7 Maths award winners were Darcey Crawford, Anna Klein, Lucy Lennox, Poppy Alexander, Charlie MacKay and Aimee Dorrans. A gold card was awarded to Alistair Johnston, P7, for his willingness to be the goalie throughout  the entire day at the “Beat the Goalie” station of our Sponsored Event on Tuesday. He managed to save lots of attempts on goal but, unfortunately, was unable to stop a supreme effort from Aaron Simpson, the Kilmarnock FC player who came along to meet us on Tuesday afternoon. Well done, Alistair and well done to all of our award winners!!

A huge well done to all the boys and girls for taking part in the sponsored event organised by the GFG. Particular thanks to Mr Smith for organising the football event, Steven Swan for taking the Zumba, Jo Clark our Active School’s coordinator and all other helpers who made the day a great success.

Wider Achievement

Wow! Thank you to all the boys and girls who brought medals, certificates, badges and trophies following the post on the blog last week!

We saw recognition for :

athletics, dancing, horse riding, tennis, football, judo, gymnastics, golf, Taekwondo, cross country, plus badges for Beavers!!

All the photos will be printed and everyone can look out for the new display going up in the school in the next week or so. What a talented school we have! Perhaps we could do this every term next session…

  • Could P1B please bring their items again tomorrow (Thursday) as they were at PE when the pictures were taken this afternoon? Many thanks,

Mrs Lawson
