Gargieston 1975

In 1975 Kilmarnock Grammar School was closed and demolished. It was deemed as no longer suitable and all the new houses being built along the far end of Dundonald Road meant the new school was to be  built in this area too. This was to be Gargieston.

It was decided that the Grammar School badge would be kept on the uniform as a nod to its predecessor. The KGS, therefore does not mean Gargieston School, Kilmarnock, but Kilmarnock Grammar School.

The school also kept its Head Teacher and Depute Head Teacher – Mr McQueen and Mrs Margo Orr.
