Happy Retirement Mrs McLaughland!

Yesterday, we had fun at a special assembly filled with music, singing and dancing to celebrate Mrs McLaughland’s retiral after 37 years in education and over 8 years at Gargieston.

We had managed to keep a little secret from her over the past few weeks…………

Mr Hay rewrote the words to one of Mrs McLaughland’s favourite songs and we have all been learning it.  She loved our performance and we wanted to share some of it with you.

Happy retirement Mrs McLaughland – from all at Gargieston 🙂

Roon The Toon School Challenge

Congratulations to the runners who represented Gargieston at Roon the Toon yesterday.  The team came 1st  and were awarded £500 for school funds – what a fantastic achievement!

Many thanks to all competitors and to Mr Gourlay for organising the team for this event 🙂

ECC Sports Event

Due to the weather forecast for tomorrow, we have taken the decision to postpone the ECC sports events.

These will now take place on Friday 27th May at 1:30pm.

Celebrating our Super Stars

It was lovely to celebrate our Super Stars at our P1-3 Assembly this week.  For many of our children, it was their first experience of being presented with a certificate at assembly and it was a joy to hear 170(ish) voices singing along to “You Are A Star”.

Well done to our Super Stars this week 🙂

Welcome Back!

It was lovely to welcome our children back to school today for the first day of the summer term.  Our children were full of stories about their busy holidays and they enjoyed sharing these with us.

Our staff have also been very busy over the holidays……….

Congratulations to Mrs Hamilton (formerly Miss Caldow) who was married during the first week of the holidays.

Congratulations to Mr Hay and his wife, Ashley, who welcomed their new baby son last week.  Nathyn Hay was born on 11/4/22.  He is absolutely adorable and we can’t wait to meet him.

And finally, congratulations to Miss McConnell who got engaged to her partner, Frank, during their trip to New York!

Parking Issues

Yesterday we had a site visit from Cllr Linton and Kerr Chalmers from Ayrshire Roads Alliance to highlight some of the parking and safety issues around Gargieston.

Our JRSO’s Harry and Chloe represented the views of the children and clearly articulated their concerns.  They were also joined by representatives from the Parent Council.

Welcome to our new Primary 1’s

Gargie Bear would like to introduce our new Primary 1’s to some of the key staff they will meet when they start school in August.

Every child will receive their own Gargie Bear to take on adventures with them over the summer holidays.   Gargie Bear will be sent home with the children from the ECC or will arrive by post.

We can’t wait to see what Gargie Bear gets up to over the summer!
