This morning, we started the day by adding watercolour paint on to our wax resist, night time sky. Our pictures will accompany writing we’ll do based on the story, “The Owl Who Was Afraid Of The Dark.” Everybody thoroughly enjoyed seeing the magical stars appear through the paint. Somebody even said, “I wish we could start everyday like this!” We look forward to experimenting with more colours as we finish our owl painting.

We love to play in P1/2!
Play in P1/2 is out of this world!
It’s Show Day!
We had our dress rehearsal this morning and are delighted to be getting a chance to show you our performance of “Stick Man” tonight…finally! Children are to be back at school for 6pm tonight to get ready. Enjoy the show!
Friday 7th December
P1/2 had a busy day this Friday. We are all enjoying opening up our class advent calendar and seeing what tree decoration is waiting inside for us to add to our class tree. Thanks too, for all the lovely donations to our alternative advent calendar!
Friday saw our first visit to the Sandwick Pool. All children thoroughly enjoyed their time swimming and they all performed well. Really good effort drying and changing from the little ones too!
The afternoon saw us catching up with some of our usual Friday activities and because we were all quite tired from our play rehearsals and our morning out of school, we all enjoyed some craft time and time to play with friends during our Task time.
Music with Mrs Inkster
Primary 1 have been enjoying meeting our specialist teachers and P2 have enjoyed being reacquainted! Today, I went to see them in their Music class. They have been learning new songs and rhymes and have enjoyed using percussion instruments while singing and listening to music.
Robot Rumpus!
P1/2 have started to prepare for World Book Day. We have read and enjoyed “Robot Rumpus!” by S.Taylor and R.Collins. Today, the children were asked to think about what jobs they would like a robot to help them with. They named their robots and started to create them using different craft materials. The next step will be to write about what their robot does for them, to accompany their pictures. Here are a few photos of our work in progress!
Stick Man
This week, we have listened to the very popular Stick Man story by Julia Donaldson. We have sequenced parts of the story and have used it to help us revise some of our sounds. P2 have enjoyed making small books with pictures and writing. We have also been using parts of the story to help us with our number work. Today, we looked at the family tree picture in detail and started to draw our own black pen pictures. Sadly, it was too wet for us to look for our own stick men in the garden! Maybe tomorrow!
Cutting Skills – Fine Motor Skills
This week, everybody has worked on their cutting skills. Our hard work has been made into beautiful pictures that will be displayed outside our class. Scissor cutting takes a surprising amount of skill, patience and perseverance!
Music
I was called in at the end of P1/2’s Music lesson with Mrs Inkster today to listen to their beautiful singing and instrument playing. I was really impressed with how they were able to keep the beat! We had a few missing pupils today. We hope they are feeling better very soon!IMG_2072
P1/2 Bucket Filling Assembly
Well done to P1/2 this morning! You all performed brilliantly and should be so proud of yourselves! Thank you to our super audience for so willingly joining in. Thanks to our friends and families for helping us prepare at home and for supporting us on the day. Thanks to John and Mrs Inkster too. Can we do it all again?
