P1/2 are really enjoying class PE and other opportunities to learn in active ways. Please have a look at some of our class PE photos. The children have really enjoyed using mats, benches, hoops and raised bars to practise balancing and jumping and using different movements to travel over, under and around. Today we used the book “Dear Zoo” to help us think about using our bodies in different ways, just like the animals in the story! P1 have also been jumping during language and literacy time to show how many words are in a spoken sentence.
Traditional Stories
We have enjoyed listening to some old favourite traditional stories over the past couple of weeks. So far we have looked at The Gingerbread Man and now we are looking at The Three Little Pigs. It has been a sticky time in our classroom making mosaic gingerbread men and designing a new house for one of the pigs!
We are looking forward to using our play opportunities to re-tell these stories with friends.
Visit from Mrs Bannister
We had a lovely visit from Mrs Bannister and her new baby. He didn’t stay sleeping for very long with 17 excited P1/2s around him!! Everybody loved trying to make him smile!
Number Fun!
P1 have been busy counting and learning how to write some numbers over the past couple of weeks. Numbers 2 and 3 are quite tricky so we had fun making them in lots of different ways. We are in the middle of making our own number line too to hang up in the classroom.
Week 2 … Class Photo
That’s week two almost done! We took the opportunity to get a quick class photo outside in the sunshine today. Here are P1/2!
Our first week…
That’s the first three days done! It’s lovely to be back and getting to know each other. Primary 1 are settling in very well and, as always, they are being helped by the P2 pupils who are delighted to be showing them how it’s done! Here are a few photos from some of our activities today.
Welcome back!
Introducing….our class for 2018-19!
What a lovely day we had playing with friends and making new ones, sharing holiday news and learning new things.
Last post for 2017-18
What a super day and what a quick year! Today we have had time playing both indoors and outside in the nature garden…what a beautiful day for the last day of term! We really enjoyed signing all the P7 cards and wishing them well as they leave us. Some pupils spent the morning writing them notes…they’ll be such a miss! After lunch we headed outside to watch the P7’s V Teachers Rounders match at the pitch. Then it was back inside to say farewell to Mrs Hay and to celebrate her time with us with poems and music…and an ice lolly! Thank you all for your support over the year from me, Mrs Tait and Mrs Henderson. You’ve all be super to work with and we’ve enjoyed spending the year with your children. Have a super holiday and see you all back on the 22nd August.
Lost Property
We have several unclaimed jumpers, fleeces and gloves to find homes for. If you have lost anything or recognise it from the photo, please let us know.
Transition Day -Round 2!
We had our second transition day yesterday with the boys and girls from the Early Years. After sharing what we were looking forward to doing next year we spent time getting to know each other in the various play areas in the classroom. After play time we ventured outdoors to our “forest” where we played some movement games and worked with a friend to find different coloured things in and around the trees. The trees continue to grow well, creating a super space for us to play and learn.
