RAF 100
Typhoon Jet Flypast
Great excitement in our playground this afternoon as two typhoon jet flypast Bell’s Brae to celebrate 100 years of the RAF.
RAF 100
We are thrilled to be involved in supporting the RAF celebrate their centenary.
One of the most exciting events taking place is the RAF100 Baton Relay which sees a specially designed baton visit 100 sites associated with the RAF in 100 days. As part of this relay the baton will travel to RAF Saxa Vord in a Typhoon fast jet from Lossiemouth this afternoon.
To make the event even more symbolic the jet will carry out a low-level jet flypast over Bell’s Brae Primary School this afternoon at approximately 2.15pm. Squadron Leader Daniela Nowalski has been co-ordinating this event with staff at the school and will visit the school this afternoon with a replica baton.
Working with the RAF’s partner the Big Ideas Company we have received resources to support their ‘Remember RAF100 Project’ and involve our learners in this celebration.
Scottish National Standardised Assessments (SNSA)
Scottish National Standardised Assessments (SNSA)
As you may be aware from the National Press, the Scottish Government have, this school session, introduced National Standardised Assessments in literacy and numeracy at the P1,P4,P7 and S3 stages of your children’s education.
School staff have recently received training in their implementation and we will conduct the assessments with pupils before the end of March this year. The assessments are online in format and will be administered as part of normal classroom activities.
The results are diagnostic to provide teachers with information about children’s learning rather than simple “marks”. Teachers can then tailor teaching and learning activities appropriately. No results will be sent home but teachers will probably refer to these within the normal school reporting cycle or during parent/teacher appointments.
Finally, it is important to note that the assessments will not be used to compile league tables of schools.
If you would like further information about SNSA there is a section specifically for parents on the SNSA website at:
Punctuality Statement
We are writing to inform you of our School’s punctuality statement.
Over the past few years we have seen an increase in the number of pupils arriving after 0900 in the morning. One day we had 22 pupils arriving late for school.
We are really keen to work with parents/carers to see this improve and have therefore developed, with support from the Parent Council, the attached statement and letters .
