Early Years

There are two Early Learning and Childcare (ELC) classes in Bell’s Brae School – both morning sessions. One session operates an extended session for parents who want their child to spend longer in ELC at an additional cost. Information on costs can be obtained from Schools Service on 744000. The ELC accepts children from outwith the school catchment area but parents should note that no transport is provided.

Early Learning and Childcare Staff

Mrs Wendy Birnie (Teacher), Mrs Julie Swanson (Early Years Worker), Elena Spence (Early Years Assistants)

Crystel Thomson (Teacher), Kimberley Henry (Early Years Worker) Claire Adamson (Early Years Assistants).

Times of Sessions

Morning 0845-1155 (extended session until 1240)

ELC education aims to develop the whole child through a variety of activities. The ELC staff aim to develop the child’s skills and to encourage individual interests. The child also benefits socially by mixing with other children and becoming more independent. We are aware of the benefit to children when their parents are involved in their education. To this end, parents/carers are always welcome to visit the ELC to speak with staff or share information/expertise.

Parents are strongly encouraged to clearly label their child’s clothing and personal belongings.
