Internet Safety – Home Activity Packs
During this time many children are spending more time online and on social media. This vital connection with friends, family, teachers, social workers and others can help to reduce the feelings of isolation. However there is a risk that the increase in online activity by young people along with limited access usual support networks may be exploited by perpetrators of online abuse.
For your information we have collated links to resources on online safety which are relevant to keeping children safe online at this time.

Bell’s Brae School Closure
Please see the following information that has been received from the Schools Service –
- Shetland Islands Council’s Children’s Services Department is closing some of its schools and Early Learning and Child Care Settings to children and young people from Monday 16 March to Friday 20 March for operational and resilience reasons.
Bell’s Brae will be closed to all pupils – Homework packs have been sent home with pupils, families can choose if they wish to complete this.
- Fair Isle Primary School, Fetlar Primary School and Foula Primary School will remain open for children and young people.
- All schools will remain open for staff.
- Children’s Services will be issuing further information to parents and carers at the start of next week, which will include information about learning that can be done at home, and electronic communication between children and schools during the closure period.
- There will also be follow-up communication from schools for parents and carers of children with complex additional support needs early next week.
Bell’s Brae Tirricks Netball Team
A huge well done to our netball players who travelled to Brae on Friday evening to compete against teams from Unst, Brae and Yell. They won two tough games and lost one.
As always, a big thank you to parental volunteers for providing transport for our players to ensure these fixtures can take place. 🙂
World Book Day 2020
The Bell’s Brae Pupil Council would like to thank the pupils from nursery to P7 who participated in our World Book Day celebrations by dressing up; attending our book sale or even just taking time to read during the day!
Our Book Sale raised a very successful £171.50 which will be used to update our classroom libraries.
Thank you to our Pupil Council photographers who captured a few moments throughout the day.
