Eco cities final competition!

Today we had the accumulation of 3 months hard work – the Eco cities project.

We have been working hard to create a portfolio of our city of the future and a model to show off our cities.

The start of the day was a press conference where different cities had to fend off questions from the media.

Then we had voting from other classes

Finally, the big bad judges came to interview each group!

Thank you to all the children who worked very hard for 3 months on this project – we’re all winners.

Tuesday 27th March 2018

In the morning we had Mrs Rutherford, she was teaching us about continents and maps!

After Playtime, we were performing a writing assessment – this is where we write our best piece of work to show all that we have learned this year.

After lunch we were putting the final touches on our Green cities project and setting up for the competition tomorrow!

Check back tomorrow to see the photographs of the competition!

Good morning it’s the last week yes. Monday 26.3.18

This morning we went and had some fun gardening flowers , peas and potatoes and it was muddy!

After playtimewe went to assembly

In PE, some children had planned their own PE lesson for the class. It involved ballet, hip hop, tumbles and kicks.

Great job all round!

Finally, in Maths, we were making our own maths puzzles!

Don’t forget about the writing assessment tomorrow – prepare to write your own complaint!

Thursday the 22nd of March!😀

This morning, we created a ladder for creating fraction number lines and we were finishing our personal ladder for anything.

Then, we went to P.E and brought our WAC jotters to make a learning ladder for the stations we have got.

We made 4 ladders for 4 stations, and wrote our own things we can do for each ladder.

🏀⚽AFTER PLAYTIME⚽🏀

After playtime, we started one of our daily mental maths challenge. We get 10 questions and only have 10 seconds to answer. We’re going to do this every morning to be prepared for the day. Today’s mental maths challenge is ordering decimals. “You need 10 tenths to make a whole”

In maths, we were learning more about number lines. Yesterday some of us were doing a worksheet on a spiral number line with fractions, decimals and percentages and now we are ordering them in a straight number line. We are using these blocks to help us:

🍕AFTER LUNCH🍕

After lunch we were sorting out characters into different sections. We have 12 sections to put them into.

Finally, we were making soda bread in cooking today and here is some pictures.

Article 24 Every child has the right to a clean and safe environment.

If you want to make bread at home, you can use this recipe

Soda bread recipe

340g flour

½ tsp salt

½ tsp bicarbonate soda

290 ml yoghurt

Preheat oven to 200 degrees

Mix the flour, salt and bicarbonate soda in a large bowl and stir

Make a well in the centre and pour in the yoghurt, mixing with a large fork to form a soft dough.

If the dough is too stiff add more yoghurt

Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead briefly

Form into a round and place on baking sheet

Cut across the top and bake for about 30 mins until the loaf sounds hollow when you tap the bottom

Shortly after we went to I.C.T where we were learning about fraction number lines and how to create fractions.

To learn this we played some games on fractions, Here are the links to these games if you want to play at home.
