Tuesday 27.2.18

Mrs Rutherford:

At the start of the day, We were learning about Rural, Urban and green belt and what they mean. They are different areas in citys and towns.

Up above their is photos of Leila and Zoe’s work.

French:

After Mrs Rutherford left we did French. We were learning to spell our name in French. We were also learning to learn the French alphabet.

literacy:

In literacy we were learning about key features in a non-fiction text.

Nouns:  The nouns were finishing off our comprehension from yesterday. Then we made fact sheets.

Verbs: The verbs were still finishing off the comprehension sheets. Then they made a picture of a sea creature and also labelled it afterwards.

Commas: The commas also finished off their comprehension sheet. They then made a fact file.

New project on summary’s:

Today we started a new project on how to write a proper summary. Mrs Armitage started of by reading a short rhyme callled” little red riding hood.” We had to write down our ideas and the key parts down to make a small summary.

Percy Jackson:

Before we did maths we read more of ” Percy Jackson and the Lightning thief.” Some people in the class started to read and we talked about reading fluently as well.

Maths:

In maths we were learning about money. We were learning about different bank acounts and also interest.

IDL

We then went on to our mobile phone topic and finished our mobile phone posters and powerpoints. We were learning about the evolution of mobile phones and also the history of mobile phones.

FunFriday

This morning we did phases that people say and what they mean  e.g “that’s a piece of cake ”a piece of cake means that something is easy we also did other ones like burn the midnight oil. 

These are called IDIOMS!

We went to I.C.T and went on scratch.

Today I learned in scratch to make the sprite to talk and move”

Then we made a learning ladder for scratch.

 

After break we did the answers for the cooking prices.

Then we went to assembly and  sang songs and did star pupils.

 

After that we went to lunch. After lunch we were reading our books and when we read we had  to read like a river flow not like a robot!

THERE CALLED ROBOTS AND RIVERS!

5 minutes after we went to assembly again because a visitor came in to talk to us.In assembly the visitor was talking about   Catchment areas.

FunFact consultation ends today.

Then we all did a sheet about proposals of people moving house.

After we read again then after reading.

Before we did French  we went to see the bees 🐝 they weren’t out today because it was too cold.

In French we did a listening activity to help us recognise the sounds of the french alphabet.

Tuesday

We had Mrs R

We came into school we did our lunches and got stuck into some work about glaciers👍.

 Mr McMullen started to teach us the  French alphabet. We listened to 4 French alphabet songs and choose our favourite😀.

Language

We are focusing on non-fiction reading for the next two weeks. We are increasing our vocabulary.

Spelling – spelling words based on our non-fiction texts.

Test someone at home to spell these words.

 

 

Maths

We are learning “grid multiplication”. This is where you split numbers up to make difficult multiplying sums easier.

Organise these sums into can and can’t do.

HWB

We are learning about the history of mobile phones and how they are influencing our lives now.

Interview someone at home or in school about how much they use their phone, what they use their phones for and how much this has changed since they first got a mobile phone.

Taekwon-do

today we had 3 guest teachers – Arran, Stephen, Sian

 

They were teaching us Taekwon-do techniques.

Kicks, punches and basic new techniques.

 

We also also learned to show more control when playing football by using the side of our foot.

we came back into class and Miss Armitageand the class read Percy Jackson and the lighting thief . we  did all about me with Miss  Armitage . we did  a house rules posters for Miss Armitage so she knows the rule of  the school

then we went for lunch

45 minutes later

after lunch  mr mcmullan read some more of Percy Jackson and the lighting thief . p2 did  an assembly  on fasting sadly I couldn’t get a video of it because they finished during the assembly we watched news round then we went back to class and then we watched KILBOWIE videos and popcorn 🍿

Thursday 15th February 2018

  • Morning😴

Today everyone enter with a smile because they were ready for gym,

First thing this morning we came in to get ready for Gym, We preformed in a bleep test we went so high and some people got to stage 15 and that’s amazing! Then we headed back to class.

Before break time we got a couple different pictures and we had to right about the: ~Scenery, ~Name of the  characters, ~ Backstory and  ~Speech. But we had no context so we had to guess the story by looking at the way the pictures were set out.

After break time we came into the answer to the pictures and some children were on the same track as the story but some children went a different track and made it even better. Then we decide to do a lesson on multiplication grids, it helped lots of people in the class and now they find big division sums easier. One of our students said ”It was pretty good and pretty easy” about the math lesson, and another student said ‘‘ I love this work” about the lesson.

Lunch time🥗

After lunch we came in to Greenfaulds high school booklets on our desks, and then Mr McMullan told us that we will be reading Percy Jackson. Then we stared to look at the two pages and we got a question and we got some really good answers. Then we stared another Comprehension and you can get a max of three points. The first point is if you include words from the text and the second one is if you include a quote in your answer. The last one is if you have the correct answer,  Some children said ”It was very easy” another student thought ‘‘ I thought it was tricky ” about this lesson.

Thrn we came to the end of the day,

Story writing                                                                                                                                            This morning some adults came into the school today we learned what does  VCOP is. VCOP helps use when we’re doing story writing it helps use with wow words, openers and adjectives. In story writing we are reading a book called Percy Jackson and the lighting thief we are Goni get to add what we want to happen in the book.

 

 

 

 

Cooking Rock Cakes

Today in cooking we were trying to follow a recipe with no help!

We were given the recipe for rock cakes and had to discuss together everything that we needed to make that recipe.

Then we had to mix the dry ingredients with the butter and mush it into fine breadcrumbs.

After that, add some egg, spoon the mixture onto the baking tray and sprinkle with brown sugar.

10-15 mins is usually enough.

The kids loved them so much, that they went back for seconds!
